SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in the one-week staged reading of RACHEL by Angelina Grimke (see breakdown).

Pittsburgh locals encouraged to submit.

Celebrating 25 years in Pittsburgh, PICT Classic Theatre is Pittsburgh's home for classic and Irish productions. PICT is committed to a casting focus that is intentionally inclusive and local to the Greater Pittsburgh Area. All are welcome.


INSTRUCTIONS

Please prepare a brief contemporary monologue of your choosing. Videos should begin with a slate of your name and home city, and should be no longer than 2 minutes in length. Submit your audition along with your current headshot & resume to the audition link at: https://www.picttheatre.org/participate/ . Deadline: February 4, 2022 at 9am ET.

Callbacks will be held over zoom at the director’s discretion.

Rehearsal May 3-7, 2022, with two performances of the reading at 2pm and 7pm on Sunday, May 8.

All rehearsals and performances are held in person at WQED Studios in Oakland
(Pittsburgh, PA).

BREAKDOWN

The play takes place over the first decade of the 19th Century.

All characters are Black.

MRS MARY LOVING (female identifying, 40s-50s) A widow.

RACHEL LOVING (female identifying, early 20s) Mary’s daughter. Sings.

THOMAS LOVING (male identifying, early 20s) Mary’s son.

JIMMY MASON/LITTLE NATE (male identifying, 10-12) A small boy.

JOHN STRONG (male identifying, 20-30s) A friend of the family.

MRS. LANE (female identifying, 20s-30s) A caller.

ETHEL LANE/LITTLE MARTHA (female identifying, 10-12) Mrs. Lane’s daughter/young friend of Rachel.
