Long envisioned as a major international cultural institution in the heart of a revived Lower Manhattan, the Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC) is the final element and cultural keystone of the 2003 Master Plan developed during Mike Bloomberg’s tenure as mayor for rebuilding the World Trade Center site after the tragedy on 9/11. PAC NYC will help to redefine Lower Manhattan as a cultural destination and serve as a testament to the power of the arts to inspire and unite us. Currently under construction, we will open to the public in September of this year.

Although not every character is listed as such, the vast majority of the cast will be BIPOC to reflect a present-day New York City.

NOTE: This is a production of the musical CATS reimagined within the context of the Ballroom Scene. The reimagination will take place at a Ball: a competition that, through multiple categories, invites an unapologetic celebration of the self. Please note that all characters in this production are human, not literal “cats”. All ages are suggestions to capture the character’s essence and their relationship to the scene. Gender identities mentioned in the character descriptions are to describe the characters; many roles may have flexibility with gender including throughout the show. Ballroom was created as something that is for everyone. Although not every character is listed as such, it is important to this creative team that people of the global majority (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) are represented across this cast.

While some roles specify singing or dancing, all roles will require some of both. In addition, all roles except Deuteronomy, Grizabella, Munkustrap, and Gus will also play ensemble parts, portraying multiple characters and competing in multiple categories.
