LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS
SYNOPSIS: The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names Audrey II - after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II's out of this world origins and intent towards global domination!
All actors auditioning for Principal Tracks will also be considered for Understudy Tracks.
SEYMOUR (he/him) - Masculine-Presenting. Open ethnicity. 20s-30s. A young florist who’s down on his luck. Kind to a fault with a childlike naivete. Despite his clumsiness and lack of social skills, he’s actually very smart. Tenor. (Vocal Range: A2 – G4)
AUDREY (she/her) – Feminine-Presenting. Open ethnicity. 20s-30s. Seymour’s coworker, an honest and sweet woman. Sort of clumsy, with a very poor sense of self-esteem. “Views her life as her own ‘B’ movie.” A Fay Wray type actress. Mezzo-Soprano. (Vocal Range: G#3 – D4)
MR. MUSHNIK (he/him) - Masculine-Presenting. Open ethnicity. 50s+. The owner of the flower shop Audrey and Seymour work at. Quick to anger and extremely profit-driven, to the point of being manipulative. Baritone. (Vocal Range: G2 – F4)
ORIN (he/him) - Masculine-Presenting. Open ethnicity. 40s+. A sadistic dentist and Audrey’s abusive boyfriend. Tall, dark, and handsome, he’s the kind of tough guy who wears leather jackets and rides a motorcycle. Slightly narcissistic. May also double as parts in the ensemble. Baritone/Tenor. (Vocal Range: G2 – G4)
VOICE OF THE PLANT (AUDREY II) (he/him) – Masculine-Presenting. 20s-50s. An anthropomorphic cross between a Venus flytrap and an avocado, the plant has an appetite for human flesh that is appeased by Seymour. The voice is that of a conniving, street-smart 'villain.' A funky Rhythm and Blues voice is best. A strong bass. (Vocal Range: G2 – G4)
THE PLANT (AUDREY II) – Puppet. An anthropomorphic cross between a Venus flytrap and an avocado, the plant has an appetite for human flesh that is appeased by Seymour. Puppeteer doubles as other sizes of the plant.
CRYSTAL (she/her) – Feminine-Presenting. BIPOC. 20s-30s. A sassy Skid Row resident who sings in a hip, narrative style, acting as the occasional Greek Chorus, providing a running commentary on the action. Young, fabulous, and all-knowing. (Vocal Range: Ab3 – F5)
RONNETTE (she/her) – Feminine-Presenting. BIPOC. 20s-30s. A sassy Skid Row resident who sings in a hip, narrative style, acting as the occasional Greek Chorus, providing a running commentary on the action. Young, fabulous, and all-knowing. (Vocal Range: Ab3 – F5)
CHIFFON (she/her) – Feminine-Presenting. BIPOC. 20s-30s. A sassy Skid Row resident who sings in a hip, narrative style, acting as the occasional Greek Chorus, providing a running commentary on the action. Young, fabulous, and all-knowing. (Vocal Range: Ab3 – F5)
