Prepare a brief song with accompaniment in the style of the show (Musical Theater with a mix of folk, country and bluegrass styles) or prepare one of the music cuts provided at: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Q_uhJROqX1sFAc9oEvo3ltQo00XDY9NN. If Auditioning for Emmet, Wendell, Harvey, Charlie, Gretchen Fox , Mayor Fox or Narrator sing Waterville. If auditioning for Ma sing either Ain’t No Hole in the Washtub or Our World.)

Note for Waterville: feel free to do a bit of speaking (it’s actually indicated at one point) you can choose the notes you want to sing at the end. There are low, middle and high options.

AVAILABLE ROLES

MA OTTER (Female 30s – 50s) Salt of the earth, practical, hard working. Funny, big hearted, an eternal optimist full of love for her son. Mezzo-soprano.

EMMET OTTER (Male 18+ to play teen. ) Appealing, smart, innocent and charming. Has his mother’s big heart and playful funny bone to match. Tenor to G#

WENDELL PORCUPINE (Male 18+ to play teen.) Emmet’s best friend, a bit on the simple side, with a constantly stuffy nose. Puppetry experience a plus. Baritone.

HARVEY BEAVER (Male 18+ to play teen.) Good buddy of Emmet, Wendell and Charlie’s eager to form a jug band and enter the talent show. Sings well.

CHARLIE (Male 18+ to play teen.) Enthusiastic cohort of Emmet, Wendell and Harvey eager to form a jug band and enter the talent show. High falsetto.

GRETCHEN FOX / AS CAST (Female 30s – 50s) Nimble and funny. Also plays multiple roles including Hetty Muskrat, Beverly Badger and Mrs. Mink (Very proper and conservative, but when given the chance, she really lets her hair down and does a fierce bump and grind). High soprano with belt. Puppetry experience a plus.

MAYOR FOX / AS CAST (Male 30s – 50s) Nimble and funny. Also plays multiple roles Puppetry experience a plus.

NARRATOR (Male or Female 30s – 60s). Our affectionate and good humored guide to Waterville. Kind and sensitive, our narrator embodies the joy and merriment of the season. Gleam in his/her eye and nothing but love in his/her heart.

ROLES CAST

PUPPETEERS (5)

Puppeteers of all ethnicities with Henson-style hand and rod puppetry experience who are strong singers and actors for various roles. Should be proficient in lip synch, choreography, character voices and physical comedy. Able to act and sing as multiple characters.
