Please prepare a comedic monologue and sing a 1-minute pop/rock musical song of your choice. Please provide your own accompaniment. You may also use the accompaniment at https://tinyurl.com/4avcwd73 and take whatever liberties you need with the tracks.

SEEKING:

[TOM HUTCHINSON] – Male, 30s-50, White. A well put together accountant/entrepreneur, Tom swoops in to try and help his brother’s failing drag club by taking over the bookkeeping. He’s a contrast to his brother’s loud and proud persona, living his life on the straight and narrow. HAS AN EXCELLENT POP/ROCK SINGING VOICE AND COMEDY SKILLS. LEAD

[BRENDAN] – Male, 10, White. Tom’s son, Brendan tags along with his dad to his uncle’s drag club and becomes inspired by what he sees and feels. He’s a kid going through a rough time after his mother’s passing, but finds joy and healing in the drag club. HAS AN EXCELLENT SINGING VOICE. LEAD.

ROLES CAST:

ALEXIS GILLMORE – Owner and headline drag star of the Fishtank. Her attitude harkens back to rock and roll values, believing everything will figure itself out as long as she stays true to her art. She is a magical thinker, detached from reality’s rules and suggestions. Impulsive spender.

DIXIE COXWORTH - Alexis’ second-in-command and the club’s resident cisgender heterosexual female. Determined and tough, very organized and focused. Tells it like it is. Under a tough exterior, she is quite maternal and forever supportive of her drag family.

KITTY GALLOWAY - The ice queen. Cold and ruthless. Strong-willed and tenacious. Her poised demeanor and hard exterior protects a broken interior. Doesn’t easily let anyone in because she's afraid she'll get hurt. When the insults start to fly, she can match wits with anyone. Someone's ego may end up bruised, but it won't be hers. Well-spoken and articulate, with a more highbrow vocabulary.

THE TIGRESS - Adores Kitty as her second-in-command. Maintains dominance at all costs, except when she is razzed. One of the best dancers at the Cat House, she’s got talent and knows it. She has a side gig as a dominatrix and often includes whips and crops as props in her routines. “DO as I say, not as I do” attitude.

POPCORN REILLY - The Fishtank’s resident songwriter, though she hasn’t gotten a song in the show yet. Loves to talk! Chatty to the point of being annoying and is often cut-off in conversation because of it. A little goofy, but extremely lovable and loyal to her drag family.

TUNA TURNER - Warm, charismatic, and a romantic at large. She’s constantly looking for love and has a healthy libido to match. Her Latino roots stay strong as she is always drawing upon wisdom from her very large extended family. A spiritual and mystical queen, no doubt she sages the stage before each performance.

SAVANNAH ST. JAMES - An electric enchantress. She’s the ultimate Glamazon and takes her profession as a drag performer very seriously. She revels in her womanhood and has the art of sultry seduction down to a science. She is extremely helpful to her drag family and is always the first one to offer help to her sisters when needed.

PUSS PUSS DUBOIS - The new girl in town and least experienced in the art of drag. Charmingly innocent and slightly ditzy. Definitely the odd-girl-out at the Cathouse because of her bubbly demeanor and beardy drag. Loves the simple things in life like sweet tea, grits and wigs, wigs, wigs!!

GOLID VANDERSNATCH - Loud, confrontational, and outspoken. Ill-mannered and ill tempered. She's defined by her contagious vivaciousness and sass but has a tendency to disregard others’ feelings to protect her need to be right. Can make a good counterpart, IF she likes you.

DRUNK JERRY – A regular at The Fishtank, Drunk Jerry is self-proclaimed as always “drunk and high and gay as hell.
