PREPARATION

Actors will read from sides, provided at the audition. Please also be prepared with a brief vocal selection (32 bars) from The Gershwin, Jerome Kern or Harold Arlen songbooks.

Total time not to exceed 2 minutes. Please bring headshots and resumes stapled together. Bring sheet music/Accompanist will be provided.

BREAKDOWN

COME LIGHT MY CIGARETTE is an edgy and suspenseful new musical in which a young actress is driven to confront the two most turbulent relationships in her life-her father, with whom she shares a volatile and shameful past and her ex-lover, a powerful and controlling woman who was instrumental in making her a success.

Seeking Equity actor/singers for the following roles:

VIKKI: Female; mid-20’s; a runaway at age 16-now a budding and successful actress, returns home after the death of her mother to confront her abusive father and come to terms with her dark past. Intense, with a wide emotional range.

KEVIN: Male; late 40’s-late 50’s. Irish Catholic. Vikki’s father, an accountant who’s wife has recently died. Angry and opinionated—with a history of abusive behavior. A tortured soul.

DANIELLE: Female; 35-45; a theatre producer; attractive and professional--a mentor, and past lover of Vikki’s who still harbors feelings for her which border on obsessive. Passionate, powerful and controlling, with a flair for the dramatic. Any ethnicity.
