Preparation
Everyone should prepare a brief contemporary musical theatre selection, an accompanist will be provided.

Bring picture and resume, stapled together.

Breakdown

Bubble Boy is a world premiere new musical from the creators of Despicable Me/Despicable Me 2/The Lorax/etc. American Theater Group is New Jersey’s newest professional theater company, offering new and classic American musicals and plays. All rehearsals and performances will take place in Rahway, NJ - a 32-minute train-ride from Penn Station - at Hamilton Stage, a brand new/state-of-the-art 199-seat theatre.

Seeking actors with strong comedic skills. Please note: doubling may change based on auditions. 5M, 5W

JIMMY LIVINGSTON (Any ethnicity, 18-22): The Bubble Boy. Innocent and lovable, with a puppy dog quality. Should not be muscular; he needs to look and seem a little sickly and weak. Tenor (Bb5).

CHLOE MOLINSKI (Any ethnicity, 18-22): The tough girl with a heart of gold. Has a reputation as the “town slut,” but that masks an inner vulnerability. Mezzo soprano (E5).

MRS. LIVINGSTON (Any ethnicity, 40s): Jimmy’s controlling, religious right mom. Mezzo soprano (G5).

MR. LIVINGSTON/GIL (Any ethnicity, 40s): Jimmy’s dad. Doesn’t speak ‘til the very end / Leader of the Bright and Shiny cult.

MARK/SHERIFF/BUS KIOSK GUY (Any ethnicity, 18-22): Chloe’s boyfriend and eventual fiancée. Dumb and brash; thinks he’s cooler than he is. He’s a wannabe rocker, so he needs to be able to sing in 80’s rock style without any hint of musical theatre (C5) / A no-nonsense policeman / A stoner who works at the bus station.

SHAWN/PUSHPAHP (Indian, 18-22): Mark’s slow best friend, dreams of being a rock God / Ice cream truck driver. Tenor.

LORRAINE (Any ethnicity, 20s): Leader of her branch of the Bright and Shiny cult. Soprano (G5).

SLIM/TODD/DEPUTY (Latino, 30s): Head of a Latino biker gang. Tough and scary. Baritone./ Male member of the Bright and Shiny Cult / A rookie cop

SHINY GIRL/SALESLADY/MINISTER (Any ethnicity, 20s): Questioning cult member. Alto.

FEMALE MULTI-TRACK CHARACTER (Any ethnicity, 20’s) Must sing and move well.
