This audition will not be facilitated by an Equity monitor. An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

BREAKDOWN

Equity encourages everyone participating in the auditions to wear a two-ply cloth face mask, surgical
mask, singer’s mask or respirator (N95, KN95 or KF94). Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas
are not recommended. Singer’s masks can be found at www.broadwayreliefproject.com/singersmask.
Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the
extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and
dressing rooms.

If all audition appointments are taken, an Alternate List for Equity members will be started the morning
of the appointment. Members will be required to show proof of membership in order to add their name
to the Alternate List. Equity members on the Alternate List will be seen if time permits. NO
UNOFFICIAL LISTS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

BETTY BOOP - Early 20s, Black, Indigenous, API, Latine, MENASA, Mixed, or White, female-
presenting. Confident, curious, whip-smart, open-hearted, and bold. Searching for what’s “real” and what’s right. A very talented comic and jazz singer with immeasurable star quality, and a very good dancer. Big belt. G2 (G below middle C) to Eb4.

GRAMPY - ROLE IS ON OFFER. 60+ years old, Black, Indigenous, API, Latine, MENASA, Mixed, or
White, male-presenting. A clever, brilliant, quirky inventor, but not scatterbrained. Protective of his
granddaughter Betty. In love with Valentina. D2 (D below middle C) to Ab3.

TRISHA - ROLE IS ON OFFER. 18+ to play 16-17, Black, Indigenous, API, Latine, MENASA, Mixed,
or White, female-presenting. A talented visual artist and cosplayer with an open mind and a
determination to help her family. A little shy, but empowered by Betty. Betty’s instant friend and Carol’s
daughter. A2 (A below middle C) to D4.

DWAYNE - Early 20s, Latine, male-presenting. Handsome, respectful, jazz musician/college student
renting a room in Carol's brownstone. He is also Raymond’s speech writer. Betty’s love interest. D2 (D
below middle C) to G#3.

CAROL - 40-50 years old, Black, female-presenting. The welcoming, generous owner of the Harlem
brownstone where she lives with her daughter Trisha and her tenant Dwayne. She is Raymond’s
campaign manager. Civic minded. Maternal presence. Big belt. G2 (G below middle C) to Eb4.

VALENTINA - ROLE IS ON OFFER. 60+ years old, Black, Indigenous, API, Latine, MENASA, Mixed, or White, female-presenting. Astrophysicist, practical in every way and Grampy’s equal in hyper-
intelligence. In love with Grampy. A2 (A below middle C) to Eb4.

RAYMOND - ROLE IS ON OFFER. 40+ years old, White, male-presenting. Slick mayoral candidate.
Slight air of corruption about him. C2 (C below middle C) to G#3.
