Equity actors for roles in Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre's 2024 season (see breakdown). No roles will be understudied. All Stage managerial positions are currently filled.

Prepare two brief contrasting songs or, if auditioning for one of the plays, prepare a brief monologue. Please bring a headshot and resume stapled together.

[ JULIAN MARSH ] Male-identified, 30s-40s The famous, but notorious, Broadway director of Pretty Lady. Gruff, but charismatic. Baritone

[ DOROTHY BROCK ]: Female-identified, 40s-50s A selfish Broadway Star who comes to understand what's really important in life; very elegant; moves well and possess a strong sense of comic timing. Alto/Belt

[ BILLY LAWLOR ]: Male-identified, 20-30s An extraordinary tapper with a soaring tenor voice, the juvenile.” Tenor

[ MAGGIE JONES ]: Female-identified, 30s–40s. Half of the Pretty Lady writing duo; warm with a biting wit. Sings and moves well and able to play comedy. Alto/Belt

[ BERT BERRY ] Male-identified, 30s - 50s Half of the Pretty Lady writing duo; funny, loveable; sings and moves well and able to play comedy with vaudeville timing. Baritone

[ ABNER DILLON ] Male-identified, 40s - 60s. A sugar daddy from Oklahoma. Bass/Baritone. NOTE: Ability to sing a help but not necessary.

[ ANYTIME ANNIE ] Female-identified, 20s -30s. One of the girls in the chorus; a first rate tap dancer and natural comedienne; big belt. Alto/Belt.

[ PAT DENNING ] Male-identified, 40-50. A handsome vaudeville performer down on his luck; Dorothy Brock's true love; baritone.

[ ANDY LEE ] Male-identified, 20s - 40s. The dance director of the show; a first rate tap dancer; Bari-Tenor

[ TULLY ] Male-identified, 30s. Smooth-talking, self-deprecating playboy. He's completely content with the life he's chosen as the singer/bartender at a tropical resort, until he meets Rachel, a vacationer who upends his heart. Advanced guitar-player. Tenor

[ RACHEL ]: Female-identified, 20s-30s. Fully committed to her job and helping the world. Willing to put in as many hours of hard work as it takes and expects everyone else to do that same. Suspicious of fools and operators, Rachel is not easily distracted from her life plan. Soprano with strong belt.

[ TAMMY ]: Female-identified, 30s. Loyal friend to Rachel. Sees the best in people and has a zest for life that is often squelched by her fiance, Chad. Her low self-esteem manifests itself as denial in her own life. Soprano with strong belt.

[ BRICK ]: Male-identified, 30s. The Island bartender. Has a big heart and a good friend to Tully. Not the brightest bulb, but sensitive and thoughtful. Bari-Tenor.

[ MARLEY ]: Female-identified, 40s. Caribbean. No-nonsense and assertive. She runs the resort and keeps everyone in check, but clearly cares about her employees, her customers, and J.D., an older island denizen. Soprano with strong belt.

[ JAMAL/TED ]: Male-identified, 25-40. Bari-Tenor. Jamal: Carribean. Works as both the dishwasher and masseuse at the resort. Ted: A talent agent who scouts Tully and jumpstarts his career.

[ J.D. ] Male-identified, 60s-70s. A funny, endearing man who always has a parrot on his shoulder. He's losing his vision and his hearing, but won't acknowledge it. A good-natured drunkard, he's always writing his memoirs on bar napkins and, as it turns out, he's lived a full life.

CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY

[ WILLY WONKA/CANDY MAN ]: Male-identified, 30+. Strange, sly, and charming, Wonka is looking for his replacement as next great chocolatier, utilizing extraordinary methods in his search. Physical, mysterious, funny, larger than life. Baritone/tenor.

[ CHARLEY BUCKET ]: Any Gender, 8-12. Sweet, courageous, inventive, and hopeful. A child with an unchanged voice who can embody the heart of gold that matches the winning golden ticket.

[ GRANDPA JOE ]: Male-identified, 60+. Charlie’s patient, imaginative, hopeful grandfather. He always reminds Charlie to look on the bright side. Some singing.

[ MRS. BUCKET ]: Female, 30+. Charlie’s warm and nurturing mother who is always concerned about providing for her family. Charlie’s dreams are sometimes at odds with her practicality.

[ AUGUSTUS GLOOP ]: Male-identified. 18+ to play a young teenager. German. Round-faced and gluttonous, but still active and physical. Augustus can’t help himself when it comes to just about anything. A strong sense of comedy and an excellent singer.

[ MRS. GLOOP ]: Female-identified, 30s-40s. German. Mrs. Gloop is Augustus's mother who has overindulged her son and proud of it. She accompanies Augustus on the tour of the factory. She is a match for her son’s physicality. A huge presence with a huge voice.

[ VERUCA SALT ]: Female-identified. 18+ to play a young teenager. Russian. Veruca is wealthy, greedy, and completely spoiled. Classical ballet skills a plus but not required as she loves to show of her en pointe ballet skills (or lack thereof, depending). Greedy and swarthy.

[ MR. SALT ]: Male-identified. 30s-40s. Russian. Veruca’s tall, distracted, hilarious father. Can’t say no to Veruca, giving in to every ridiculous demand she makes. Mr. Salt's solution to most problems is to buy his way out and loves to do so for his daughter. Baritone.

[ MIKE TEAVEE ]: Male-identified. 18+ to play a young teenager. TV junky and addicted to video games, the Internet, and any other mind-numbing technological device. Mike is bratty, loud, and obnoxious. He does not understand the word no.

[ MRS. TEAVEE ]: Female-identified, 30s-40s. She accompanies her son, Mike, on the tour of the factory. She needs medication to get through the day and to deal with her obnoxious son. She is tense, extreme, and hilarious as she attempts to be the perfect 50s housewife.

[ VIOLET BEAUREGARDE ] Female-identified. 18+ to play a young teenager. A social media influencer dubbed the Queen of Pop thanks to her gum-chewing ability. Vain but delightfully funny.

[ MR. BEAUREGARDE ]: Male-identified, 30s-40s. The perfect stage dad, ready and willing to hold the phone for Violet’s next post, despite her horrible behavior. All about the money. He accompanies Violet on the tour of the factory.

NOISES OFF

First rehearsal: July 31
Opening: Aug 17
Closing: Aug 25

[ DOTTY OTLEY ]: Female-identified, 60s. British. A veteran actor who plays the hospitable but slow Mrs. Clackett, the cockney housekeeper for the Brents’ home in England in “Nothing’s On”, the play within the play in which she has invested her life's savings. Dating Garry, though she attempts to make him jealous by meeting with Freddy.

[ LLOYD DALLAS ]: Male-identified, 40s. British.The temperamental Director of “Nothing’s On”. Is having an affair with both Poppy and Brooke.

[ GARRY LEJEUNE ] Male-identified, 30s. British. An actor incapable of finishing a thought; easily fired up. Dating Dotty and is unjustifiably jealous. Plays Roger, the estate agent looking to let the Brents’ house in Nothing's On. A very physical role.

[ BROOKE ASHTON ] Female-identified, 20s-30s. British. An inexperienced young actor who cannot improvise when things go wrong. Plays Vicki who works for the tax authorities and is trying to woo Roger in Nothing's On. Brooke will spend much of her on-stage time in only lingerie.

[ POPPY NORTON-TAYLOR ] Female-identified, 20s-30s. British. The Assistant Stage Manager. In her 20s or 30s. She is emotional and overly sensitive. She is envious of Brooke, the other third of the Lloyd-Poppy-Brooke love triangle.

[ FREDERICK FELLOWS ] Male-identified, 40s-50s. British. A very sensitive actor who has a serious fear of violence and blood. Plays Phillip Brent, a successful author who lives out of the country with his wife, Flavia, to avoid paying taxes in Nothing's On. They are on a secret visit home. A very physical role.

[ BELINDA BLAIR ] Female-identified, 40s. British.Cheerful and sensible, a reliable actress. Plays Flavia, Philip Brent's wife, who is dependable, though not one for household duties in Nothing's On .

[ TIM ALLGOOD ] Male-identified, 30s. British. An over-worked Stage Manager is who is forced to go on as two different characters in the second act.

[ SELSDON MOWBRAY ] Male-identified, 60s-70s. British. An alcoholic Englishman who hides his bottles all over the theater, is hard of hearing when he wants to be. He plays the Burglar in Nothing's On, an old Cockney man breaking into the Brent's home.

KEN LUDWIG'S MORIARTY

[ SHERLOCK HOLMES ] Male-identified, 30s – 40. Highly intelligent, confident, quick-witted, obsessive. Lives to solve mysteries and discover the truth.

[ DOCTOR WATSON ] Male-identified, 40s. Smart, grounded, full of heart. Watson lives to have adventures and assist his close friend Holmes.

[ TRACK THREE ] Male-identified, 30s – 50s. A chameleon. Doubles multiple roles, including MORIARTY (the devious genius), MYCROFT HOLMES (Sherlock’s eccentric and competitive brother), and LESTRADE (the blustery Scotland Yard inspector).

[ TRACK FOUR ] Female-identified, 40s. A chameleon. Doubles multiple roles, including IRENE ADLER (a confident and brilliant American actress), MRS. HUDSON (the older, doting housekeeper to Holmes and Watson), and CARTWRIGHT (a Cockney street urchin eager to help with the case).

[ TRACK FIVE ] All genders, 30s-40s. A chameleon. Doubles multiple roles, including HACEK (a Bohemian police agent), MRS. BARABAS (a tough, pugnacious woman who kidnaps for Professor Moriarty) and TOBY (an animated and vocal bloodhound employed by Holmes to follow the scent of Professor Moriarty).

[ CARL PERKINS ] Male-identified, 20s-30s. Male-identifying. The American pioneer of rockabilly music and best known for his song “Blue Suede Shoes”; an excellent lead guitarist.

[ JOHNNY CASH ] Male-identified, 20s: Tall guitarist; should sound and look somewhat like Johnny Cash at the dawn of his career.

[ JERRY LEE LEWIS ]J Male-identified, 20s-30s. Rock & roll’s legendary piano prodigy and celebrated “Last Man Standing”; a superb piano player, able to play and sing like Jerry Lee Lewis; fun, energetic; comic skills a plus.

[ ELVIS PRESLEY ] Male-identified, 20s. The King of Rock & Roll at the beginning of his career; able to play guitar; should sound and look somewhat like Elvis.

[ SAM PHILLIPS ] Male-identified, 30s. The Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll and founder of Sun Records; discovered Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, and many others; a towering and charismatic figure in American music.

[ DYANNE ] Female-identified, 20s. An aspiring singer with a wide range and Elvis’s girlfriend.

[ BROTHER JAY ] Male-identified, 20-40s, Male-Identifying, Jay is Carl Perkins’ brother and bassist. NOTE: Rockabilly bass tricks required.

[ W.S. “FLUKE” HOLLAND ] Male-identified, 20-40s, Male-Identifying. mid 20s; Fluke is Carl Perkins’ drummer.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL:

[ EBENEZER SCROOGE ] Male-identified, 50s - 70s. A cantankerous money lender who has buried a lot of memories by focusing only on his work and material success.

[ BOB CRATCHIT / ENSEMBLE ] Male-identified, 30s - 40s. Cratchit is a good-natured and hardworking clerk, striving to stay positive while supporting a large family and working for an impossibly cruel boss. Doubles a variety of other roles.

[ MRS. CRATCHIT / ENSEMBLE ] Female-identified, 30s - 40s. Bob Cratchit’s supportive and protective wife and mother to their large family. Doubles a variety of other roles.

[ GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST / ENSEMBLE ] Female-identified, 30s-40s. Alto. Violinist. The Ghost seems gentle and ethereal, but her questioning of Scrooge intentionally causes him to address memories he’d be happier to push aside. She uses music to transport Scrooge through the shadows of his past. Doubles a variety of other roles.

[ GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PRESENT / ENSEMBLE ] Gender non-specific, 30s - 50s. Loud and boisterous, the Ghost lives in the moment but mixes their good nature with a serious understanding of the weight of time. Doubles a variety of other roles. Strong singer.

[ GHOST OF JACOB MARLEY / OLD JOE ] Male-identified, 40s or older. The ghost of Jacob Marley
shows the tragic end of a life lived like his former partner, Scrooge. Old Joe is a pawn broker with a
wicked sense of humor who’s not afraid to engage in dishonest business under the direction of
Scrooge.

[ MRS. FEZZIWIG / MRS. DILBER ] Female-identified, 40s or older. Soprano. Much like Mr. Fezziwig, Mrs. Fezziwig is a big personality who turns everything she touches into a celebration. Mrs. Dilber is Scrooge’s miserable housekeeper who runs with a rougher crowd than Scrooge probably knows. Strong singer.

[ FEZZIWIG / ENSEMBLE ] Male-identified, 40s or older. Fezziwig is a huge personality who is loved by all and who wants nothing more than to share his love of Christmas with everyone around him. Doubles a variety of other roles. Strong singer.

[ FRED / ENSEMBLE ] Male-identified, 30s. Tenor. Fred is the opposite of his uncle Scrooge— upbeat and optimistic, he celebrates his life, even though he’s not well off financially.

[ YOUNG SCROOGE / ENSEMBLE ] Male-identified, late teens-early 20s. Unlike his older self, Young Ebenezer tempers his drive to succeed with a dash of wide-eyed romance. Doubles a variety of other roles. Strong singer.

[ FRED’S WIFE, ANNE / BELLE / ENSEMBLE ] Female-identified, 20s. Soprano. Anne is Fred’s wife; confident and strong, a modern woman who isn’t afraid to let her voice be heard. Featured solos--Vocal Range: B3-E5. late teens-early 20s. Belle is the girl of Young Ebenezer’s dreams, who falls for him.
