Dance Center Evanston, at 1934 Dempster Street in Evanston, Illinois, is directed by Bea Rashid and describes itself as the area's only pre-professional, multidisciplinary, performance-based dance program, emphasizing progress over product and community over competition. Training is organized into a Primary Division for ages 3-7, a Student Division for ages 7 and up plus teens, and a pre-professional Academy Program that prepares dancers for college or professional careers. Ballet is taught through the Cecchetti method, with additional tap and hip-hop classes, a boys program, accessible dance classes for dancers with disabilities, and drop-in open classes for adults 18 and over. The season runs in two sessions from September to June and ends with an annual recital.
