Ballet San Antonio is the city's only local professional ballet company and a resident company of the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. Established in 1985 as Texas Ballet Concerto, it took its present name in 1991 and now employs 26 professional dancers staging three full productions a year including an annual Nutcracker. Its School of Ballet San Antonio at 2211 NW Military Highway teaches from age 2 plus adults, in three tracks: Pre-Ballet for ages 2 to 7 with no placement required, a Pre-Professional division for ages 8 to 18 with pointe, modern and Pilates, and a Recreational track for ages 7 to 18. Most faculty are company dancers.
