About this studio
Ballet Arts School, at 2103 Lockhill Selma in North Central San Antonio, was established in 1973 and has been owned by Judith Clement Gani since 1989. It offers a family-based training environment for children age 3 through adult, with classes in creative movement (ages 3-4), pre-ballet (5-6), advanced pre-ballet (age 7), and graded ballet from age 8 to pre-professional level, including pointe and partnering, plus jazz, modern, boys' ballet and adult classes. Ballet is treated as a classical art form, so the school does not take part in competitions, but it produces an annual recital at the end of each school year. Many students go on to join Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre, a non-profit performing company for serious dance students of which Ms Gani is executive director; AABT performs in concert during the year and gives lecture demonstrations in schools and community centers.
