Presented each August and January by the Sammons Center for the Arts, the Astrid Merriman Cabaret & Cabernet Fte is highlighted by a showcase of some of the top singers in North Texas. Accompanied by the Larry Petty Combo, 13 vocalists take the stage to perform a selection from the Great American Songbook, Broadway, jazz or pop charts along with the stories behind the music.The event begins at 7:30 p.m. with a tasting of more than 20 wines and assorted appetizers. Co-emcees Linda Petty and Terry Loftis kick off the program at 8 p.m. with a duet, followed by a parade of 12 artists: Feleceia Benton, Mike Bogle, Jonathan and Emily Bragg, Shelley Clayton, Chris Cree, Christopher Deaton, Mary Gilbreath Grim, Keron Jackson, Carolyn Lee Jones, Heather Paterson and Audra Scott. The evening ends with an audience sing-along of Cabaret.Admission is $60 person and includes the cabaret showcase, the wine tasting, beer, nonalcoholic beverages, light appetizers and valet parking.
