North Texas Pop Warner Football Hosts Football & Cheer/Dance Championship

The North Texas Pop Warner Football League will host the Southwest Region Pop Warner Championship Football Tournament and Cheer/Dance Championships. From November 25-26, the top-rated Pop Warner flag and full-contact football teams in the six-state region (Texas, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma), along with their top-performing cheerleaders and dancers, will compete in various sites in the Dallas area, including Cotton Bowl Stadium in Fair Park.

Circle Theatre's 30th Anniversary Season continues with the Southwest premiere of Seven in One Blow, or The Brave Little Kid, an adapted children's play conceived and written by Randy Sharp and Axis Company. When Seven in One Blow first premiered in 2002, The New York Times wrote, 'As the brave little kid triumphs over an ogre, a witch, selfish royalty and a monster, the audience learns not to judge anything by its appearance, from parents to peas.' Circle Theatre's production officially opened Saturday evening, November 19 at 7:30pm.

Lone Star and Laundry are two complementary one-act plays written by James McLure. Though not a native Texan, McLure is known as a premier Texas playwright because he graduated from SMU's theatre department in 1973 and his best-known plays are prized for their precise capture of the feel and character of West Texas. Not to mention the great southern humor running through every page! McLure died in February of this year from cancer. He was 59.

Dallas Opera Announces Season Of 'Tragic Obsessions'

The Dallas Opera is pleased to announce the five darkly dazzling operas that comprise the company's 2011-12 season in the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House at the AT&T Performing Arts Center. With opening night on Friday, October 21, 2011, the 55th international season - "Tragic Obsessions" - will showcase compelling works by Donizetti, Janacek, Wagner, Verdi and Mozart, and will include an outstanding Dallas opera-in-concert, important debuts and some of the company's most renowned productions. Each opera will feature the superbly talented Dallas Opera Orchestra and Dallas Opera Chorus and will be performed in its original language, with English translations projected above the stage at every performance.
