Performing Arts Fort Worth welcomes Junie B. Jones to Bass Performance Hall on Sunday, January 29 at 4:00 p.m. All tickets are $27.50, and are on sale NOW.

Outspoken, precocious, lovable Junie B. Jones stars in a colorful, funny, fast-paced musical about new friends, new glasses, sugar cookies, the annual kickball tournament and various first-grade, angst-ridden situations. Follow her adventures as she writes down the story of her life in her “Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal.” The show is part of Performing Arts Fort Worth’s 2011-2012 Family Series.

This new, 65-minute musical, by Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich, is based on four volumes in Barbara Park’s Junie B. Jones series of books, illustrated by Denise Brunkus and published by Random House: Junie B, First Grader (At Last!); Junie B, Boss of Lunch;Junie B, One-Man Band; and Top-Secret Personal Beeswax: A Journal by Junie B (and Me!). It is directed by Peter Flynn (Theatreworks USA’s Nate the Great, Henry and Mudge, Artistic Director of Hangar Theatre) and choreographed by Devanand Janki (Off-Broadway: Zanna Don’t, Cupid & Psyche). Scenic design is by Luke Hegel-Cantarella (Theatreworks USA’s Corduroy), and costumes are by Lora LaVon.

The cast is made up of Abby Leigh Rose (Junie B. Jones); Preston Maguire (Herb); Melanie Czaykowsky (Lucille); Amanda Joy Loth (May); Charles Baskerville (Mr. Scary); and Kyshawn Lane (Sheldon).

After a brief New York City-area tour in spring 2004, Junie B. Jones premiered Off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in July 2004, and is now one of Theatreworks USA’s most Popular Productions.

The show was nominated in 2006 for the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical and Outstanding Choreography.  Target is the Junie B. Jones National Tour Sponsor. The Fort Worth presentation is supported by Linbeck.
