Tom Dugan to Present Workshop Reading of New Work at Theatre Too

Ahead of his performance in his critically-acclaimed one-man show Wiesenthal at the AT&T Performing Arts Center, Tom Dugan will perform a free workshop of his latest play, Jackie, What's Past is Prologue, in Theatre Three's downstairs studio space Theatre Too on Monday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m. The play is set for a world premiere in Beverly Hills in February 2018.

When the mermaid, Princess Ariel, longs for a life out of the water, she bargains with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her fins for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs to help of her colorful friends Founder the fish, Scuttle the seagull and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea. This show is suitable for all audiences.

Rachel Crothers' 1937 play-famously adapted into a 1940 film starring Joan Crawford-will receive a new production at Theatre Three beginning in April. The play follows Susan, a young wealthy New York socialite who lives only for Susan. When she discovers a new religious cult, she dives head first into her latest fad. Eager to spread the word of her transformation, Susan goes straight to her closest friends, who are, as usual, less than enthusiastic about her newest pastime. 
Second Thought Theatre Opens Area Premiere of STRAIGHT WHITE MEN

Second Thought Theatre continues its 2017 season of change with the area premiere of Straight White Men by Young Jean Lee. Local director/actor Christie Vela returns to direct for the company after making her acting debut for Second Thought last summer in A Kid Like Jake. Straight White Men begins with previews on Wednesday, April 12 and runs through Saturday, May 6. The fairy tale misfit adventure, Shrek The Musical Jr., comes to life on the Dallas stage with The J's Performing Arts Space (JPAS) productions of the of the adaptation of the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film. Shrek The Musical Jr. is comprised of two casts with actors ages 6 to 18. The Green Cast performs Thursday, March 23 at 7 p.m. andSunday, March 26 at 2 and 7 p.m.; the Blue Cast performs Thursday, March 30 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, April 1 at 8 p.m. and onSunday, April 2 at 2 p.m. All performances will take place in The J's Zale Auditorium at 7900 Northaven Road in Dallas. Attendees are encouraged to get involved in the show by dressing as their favorite fairytale character and purchasing a prop bag for audience interaction. Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for children and seniors in advance. Tickets can be purchased online.
