FRESH READS Festival Brings New Plays to Dallas

By:

May 18 - 27, 2017
Presented by Pegasus Theatre at Bath House Cultural Center in Dallas, 521 E. Lawther Drive, 75218.

As Pegasus Theatre continues our mission to produce new and original comedies in a professional setting, highlighting the talents of North Texas theatre artists, we are pleased to announce our first new play festival, Fresh Reads, at the Bath House Cultural Center May 18-27, 2017!

All plays selected for the festival will be juried by the Pegasus Theatre Artistic Director as well as Pegasus Theatre veterans and audience members to determine a festival winner. This play will receive a full STAGED reading in January 2018 for two Dark Tuesdays at the beautiful Eisemann Center on the set of our latest Living Black & White production.

These are the selected plays for this year:

A Proper Man by Steven Young. Directed by David Meglino.
Take a bit of Monty Python mixed with a healthy dose of Black Adder and you get A Proper Man! While the sexual innuendos abound, this script is rated PG and presents a hilarious romp through Merry Olde England!

The Montana Wolves Project by Marley Knittle. Directed by Andi Allen.
How do you solve an infestation of moose (or is it "mooses"?) If you're a bit of a dim bulb, the cure might be worse than the original problem! Join us for this G-rated journey with a bunch of moose-hating, anti-Kansas farmers doing their best to survive!

Little Red by Ben Schroth. Directed by Andi Allen.
Fairy tales have never been as coyly obscene as this R-rated clever redux of Little Red Riding Hood! Fun for open-minded adults, with language and gay scenarios that The Brothers Grimm never envisioned!

Cast (in alphabetical order): Allyn Carrell, Lauren Floyd, Gordon Fox, Kevin Fuld, Janae Hatchett, David Helms, Chris Messersmith, Robert San Juan, Michael Speck, Octavia Thomas, Rachel Vitemb, Nathan Willard.
