The Musical Theater Project Returns with CURTAIN UP AT THE COTTON CLUB

Back by popular demand after last season's sold out performances at Playhouse Square, The Musical Theater Project and Cleveland Jazz Orchestra will co-produce "Curtain Up at The Cotton Club - An Encore Presentation" for two performances: Saturday, October 15 (3pm) at Lakeland Community College (Dr. Wayne L. Rodehorst Performing Arts Center) and Sunday, October 16 (2pm) at Lorain County Community College Stocker Arts Center, (Hoke Theater).

Many people know Peter Lawson Jones as an attorney, business consultant and former Cuyahoga County Commissioner. Some even know that he is a member of SAG-AFTRA and Actor's Equity and has appeared in films and network television as well as numerous Northeast Ohio and Off-Broadway plays. What few probably know is that he is a published playwright. His newest work, The Bloodless Jungle is now in its world premiere at Ensemble Theatre.

Cleveland Play House (CPH) will honor a new class of individuals who have contributed to its vibrant history with a Hall of Fame induction ceremony and luncheon on Sunday, October 9th from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Cibreo Privato located at 1501 E. 14th Street.  The 2016 inductees will include Jonathan Bolt, a former resident company actor at CPH who also directed the world premiere of Arthur Miller's The Archbishop's Ceiling; Dean R. Gladden, former CPH Managing Director who was instrumental in CPH's International Theatre Exchanges; Leonore Klewer, former CPH Manager for over a decade; and William Rhys, former CPH company member and Acting Artistic Director.

Bathsheba Doran, author of The Mystery of Love and Sex now on stage at Dobama Theatre, stated of the script, 'I had no plans for subject matter. I never do when I begin. As my play stormed out of me, unstoppable and violent, I was horrified. The experience was deeply unpleasant, emotionally. I was the most embarrassing of writers in the cafe where I worked: tears streamed down my face as I stabbed out the dialogue on my keyboard. I looked up once, just in time to see a nearby guy whisper amusedly to a girl: 'Whoa, she's really into it.'

As students, teachers and parents get into the full swing of a new school year, so too does the Canton Symphony Orchestra begin a new season of diverse programs.  It gets started with ConverZations on September 12 at 12:00pm with Erik Mann, Executive Director of the Cleveland Classical Guitar Society presenting "Classical Passion Reborn".  ConverZations are free public discussions featuring a variety of musicians and music-lovers alike. The series, sponsored by T. K. & Faye A. Heston and the Ada C. & Helen J. Rank Charitable Trust, kicks off in the Zimmermann Symphony Center, 2331 17th St. NW, Canton.  The ConverZations Series will continue on the second Monday of every month from October 2016 to April 2017.

The Cleveland Orchestra's 2016-17 Music Study Groups will begin on September 27, 28, and 29 at convenient community locations throughout the Greater Cleveland area.  The classes cover music from the Severance Hall subscription season of Cleveland Orchestra concerts. The series is organized into three parts so that registrants may choose a series length that best fits their schedule - selecting from fall, winter, and/or spring.
