Measure The Universe Presents : The Women Who Discovered How to Measure the Universe
Raven Theatre Schwartz Stage | June 22 - July 2
CHICAGO, IL
In these days of great trouble and unrest, it is good to have something outside our own planet, something fine and distant and comforting to troubled minds. Let people look to the stars for comfort.
- Annie Jump Cannon
The Women Who Discovered How to Measure the Universe is a devised physical theater piece that tells the true story of the Harvard Computers, a group of women astronomers who worked at the Harvard Observatory in the early 20th century. It follows the friendship of Annie Jump Cannon and Henrietta Leavitt through their scientific breakthroughs that forever changed the field of astronomy. The science behind these groundbreaking discoveries is brought to life onstage through movement, music, and light. A celebration of friendship, curiosity, and the never-ending search to find our place in the universe.
