SELL ME: I am from North Korea, performed by Sora Baek, is a solo piece inspired by the true stories of North Korean women defectors. On her fifteenth birthday, Jisun, a North Korean girl, decides to sell herself to an old man to buy medicine for her dying mother, and after crossing into China, she discovers her body is considered worthless. The show, a sold-out hit at the 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, follows Jisun's struggle to survive in a foreign land where her existence is illegal. The production is part of Physical Theater Festival Chicago, running June 1–7, 2026, at Theater Wit.
