Writers Theatre kicks off its 2024/25 Season with the Chicago premiere of the acclaimed musical Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812. Written by Dave Malloy and directed by Katie Spelman, the story follows Natasha Rostova as she navigates her feelings for her fiancée’s friend Pierre while waiting in Moscow. The cast features Joseph Anthony Byrd as Anatole, Aurora Penepacker as Natasha, and Evan Tyrone Martin as Pierre, among others. This innovative musical, inspired by a segment of Tolstoy's War and Peace, brings to life themes of love and conflict through its unique "electropop opera" score.
