In this multi-media concert, Chicago's Folks Operetta celebrates the stories and music of operetta librettists and composers who either perished or were forced into exile during the Third Reich. Operetta was the most popular form of entertainment in Vienna for half a century before the Anschluss, with a disproportionate number of Jewish librettists, composers, and performers. The program examines the genre's troubled relationship with the Third Reich and honors the creative minds of that era.
