The Boys in the Band by Mart Crowley closes Open Stage's 40th anniversary season with a charged birthday gathering set in pre-Stonewall New York City. When Michael hosts a celebration for his friend Harold, a group of companions assembles alongside an unexpected guest — a hustler known as Cowboy — but the evening takes a dramatic turn when an uninvited arrival forces each character to confront uncomfortable truths. Originally premiering in 1968, the play broke new ground by placing the lives of gay men center stage, exploring themes of friendship, identity, and belonging that remain resonant today. Directed by Stuart Landon, the production features a cast including TJ Creedon, Joshua Dorsheimer, Brad Barkdoll, Calian Byard, Bobby Downey, Zach Haines, Marcus McGhee, Cory Metcalf, and Jason Samarin.
