Bridge Street Theatre welcomes the Telos Consort for their first appearance in Catskill on Saturday, December 13 at 7:30pm. Founded in 2023, Telos is a modular ensemble of two saxophones, two strings, and piano dedicated to expanding the repertoire for their distinctive instrumentation and creating a more approachable, less exclusionary environment for contemporary classical performance. Their collaborations have included premieres by emerging composers, appearances at the 92nd Street Y, A4 Collective, and Shapeshifter Lab, and an Ensemble Forward grant from Chamber Music America under the mentorship of Bang On A Can’s Ken Thomson.
Their BST debut, “The Illusion of Self,” explores the ways identity and style are shaped through sound. The program spans Euna Joh’s atmospheric title piece, Cole Reyes’s crystalline cold light, Julius Eastman’s exuberant Joy Boy, Olga Neuwirth’s striking coronAtion II, and Bobby Ge’s wry and sincere Remember to Have Fun. With its blend of expressive intensity and welcoming spirit, the concert offers an ideal entry point for both adventurous listeners and newcomers to new music.

Our mission is to enhance the cultural life of Catskill and the surrounding areas by presenting, independently and in concert with other artists, unique theatrical productions and other similar events unlike those generally available to audiences at other theaters in the region. To bring to light works we feel have been unjustly neglected, returning them to the stage where they belong. To present, devise, and commission brand-new works for the stage. To forge a diverse community of like-minded artists to aid in the creation of our work. To continue to locate and bring to our patrons the finest in local, national, and international talent. And to keep our ticket prices affordable and our work readily accessible to the widest possible audience.
