Three great acts, all very different, bring their musical talent to the Bridge Street Theatre's SPEAKEASY on Saturdays in July. Jon B. Woodin on July 12 (for BST's second Afterstroll). The Teri Roiger Trio, a hit at the Closing Night Party for AVIARY (reimagined) on July 19. The amazing, challenging Michael Moss/Billy Stein Duo on July 26.
Hangar Theatre Presents LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, 7/10-26

Continuing its 40th Mainstage Season, the Hangar Theatre's artistic director Jen Waldman will direct, Little Shop of Horrors by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, July 10 until July 26, 2014. This hilarious musical, based off of the 1960 movie, is cosmic fun for the whole family. With toe tapping tunes and a carnivorous alien planet, this show is sure to entertain. Join the cast, crew, and Hangar staff on opening night, Friday, July 11 at 8pm at the Hangar Theatre, as they continue to celebrate their 40th Anniversary of the Mainstage Season. The Hangar Theatre is located at 801 Taughannock Blvd, Ithaca, NY 14850 near Cass Park.
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM to Run 7/5-19 at Highland Bowl

The Shakespeare Players program of the Rochester Community Players will present eleven performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream, by William Shakespeare, July 5 to 19, 2014. Performances will be presented every night between July 5 and 19, except Mondays and Thursdays. All performance times are 8:00 PM. There is no admission charge for this FREE Shakespeare in the Park production (donations will be solicited).
Sequel to THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES Opens July 10 at Chenango River Theatre

In 2010, when Chenango River Theatre presented the original The Marvelous Wonderettes, the show sold out the entire 4 week run. In this long awaited sequel, The Wonderettes showcase more great hits of the 50's and 60's. Act 1 opens back in 1958, and it's time for the Wonderettes to graduate in this delightful sequel to the smash off-Broadway hit. Join Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy, and Suzy as they sing about their final year in high school, celebrate with their fellow classmates and teachers, and prepare for their next step toward a bright future.
CRT Kids Present ALICE IN WONDERLAND, 7/10-19

Cortland Repertory Theatre's 'CRT KIDS' program will present four performances of an original version of the classic tale 'Alice in Wonderland'. Written and directed by local playwright Kim L. Hubbard, the show stars CRT's six performing interns of the 2014 summer season. Funny, entertaining and timely, it is appropriate for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade, and carries an important message about communication in these modern times.
LES MISERABLES Comes to Cortland Repertory Theatre, 7/9-26

For the third production in Cortland Repertory Theatre's 43rd annual summer season, the epic, international hit musical "Les Miserables" takes the stage. Based on Victor Hugo's novel, the script of the musical is written by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg, with music by Schonberg and lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer. Performances of CRT's production will run from July 9 - 26 with evening performances at 7:30. Matinees are available on July 11, 13, 16, 20, and 23 at 2:00 PM. Park Playhouse, The Capital Region of New York's free summer theatre, has announced the title that will open their upcoming 26th Season. The outdoor theatre in Albany's Washington Park will open their summer season with the Local Premiere of the new musical Hands on a Hardbody. The musical, which played a run on Broadway in 2013, will be appearing at a regional theatre in the Northeast for the first time during it's run at Park Playhouse from July 1-26, 2014.

New Version of Tobias Picker's Opera AN AMERICAN TRAGEDY Receives World Premiere at the 2014 Glimmerglass Festival, 7/20

The Glimmerglass Festival presents the premiere of a new version of An American Tragedy, which was originally commissioned by and premiered at the Metropolitan Opera in 2005, by composer Tobias Picker and librettist Gene Scheer on Sunday, July 20 at 1:30 p.m., with subsequent performances through Sunday, August 24. One hour prior to the opening performance and other matinee performances, Mr. Picker will preview his work in a free discussion at the Preview Pavilion next to the performance venue. The production is directed by Peter Kazaras and conducted by George Manahan, and the cast features Glimmerglass's 2014 Young Artists. Tickets range from $10-$144 and can be purchased by calling the box office at(607) 547-2255 or online at glimmerglass.org.
Hangar Theatre Kicks Off 2014 Wedge Series Tonight

The Hangar Theatre is pleased to announce the shows for its upcoming Wedge Series. These four shows will be under the direction of the Drama League Directing Fellows, and will feature members of the Hangar Theatre Lab Company. Each year the Hangar offers free admission to Hangar patrons and all community members to its Wedge Series of cutting edge performances. These shows take place under the Hangar Tent, which is transformed into a unique performance venue for each Wedge show. Performances begin 15 minutes after the scheduled Mainstage performances tonight, June 19, and June 20, as well as July 3, 4, 17, 18, 24, and 25. Wedge performances are open to all ages; however they may contain mature language and situations that may not be suitable for all children.
