Photo Flash: First Look at Cortland Rep's SHERLOCK HOLMES & THE WEST END HORROR

For the fourth show in their 44th annual summer season, Cortland Repertory Theatre presents the Central New York premiere of the new mystery/comedy 'Sherlock Holmes & the West End Horror' by Marcia Milgrom Dodge and Anthony Dodge, adapted from the novel by Nicholas Meyer. Performances will run from July 29th - August 8th with evening performances at 7:30 PM. Matinees are available on July 31st, 4th, and 5th at 2:00 PM. Tickets may be purchased by calling800-427-6160 or at the CRT Box Office at 24 Port Watson Street in Cortland. Tickets are also available for sale 24 hours a day through the CRT website at www.cortlandrep.org.

The Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival's landmark 2016 was announced last week by Producing Artistic Director, Brett Smock who stated, "Halfway through our season, this is a time for us to reflect on our successful season thus far and also a time for us to look ahead.  From a gripping "West Side Story" to an emotional journey through "The Light in the Piazza" to the world premiere of the new North American production of "Saturday Night Fever," we've had surprising and fulfilling artistic experiences all summer long.  We have enjoyed success at the box office and are anticipating a strong remainder of our season.  We have crafted an ambitious but highly appealing season with - literally -- something for everyone!  Next year represents our largest and most ambitious season to date."

Closing their Mainstage Season, the Hangar Theatre presents Lanford Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning romantic comedy, Talley's Folly. Directed by the Hangar's artistic director Jen Waldman, Talley's Folly will run from July 30 until August 8, 2014. AUBURN, N.Y-The Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival, by special arrangement with Theatrical Rights Worldwide, proudly produces the world premiere of the new North American production of SATURDAYNIGHT FEVER.  Performances run from July 22 through through August 12. Based on Nik Cohn's 1975 article 'Tribal Rites of the new Saturday Night' and Norman Wexler's 1977 screenplay it inspired, this iconic time capsule centers around Tony Manero, a Brooklyn youth whose weekend is spent at the local dance hangout. There, he escapes into the admiration of the crowd, a growing relationship and the pulse of the beat that enables him to forget the realities of his life, his dead-end job and his gang of deadbeat friends. This new production delivers all the favorite tunes and dance sequences while bringing out the dimension and layers of the story and the landscape of such an iconic snapshot in American history.  Adapted for the stage by Robert Stigwood in collaboration with Bill Oakes, this new North American version features songs by The Bee Gees, is adapted for the stage by Sean Cercone and features additional music and lyrics by David Abbinanti.

The Forestburgh Playhouse was founded in 1947,  and is the oldest continuously operating professional summer theatre in New York State. Dubbed the 'Miracle of the Forest,' close to 30,000 patrons attend various performances every year and the growth shows no signs of slowing down.  As The Forestburgh Playhouse approaches its 69th season, under the new leadership of Producer Franklin Trapp, it continues to thrive and make summer nights special for residents and visitors alike.

Will Evan come to understand how to survive the school year, not to mention, the rest of his life?

Stagedoor Manor, the country's premiere summertime training ground for young performers, announced today that it will hold the first ever reading of a newly-licensed musical, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever - The Musical, based on the 1971 best-selling book by Barbara Robinson. With book and lyrics by Jahnna Beecham, and music and lyrics by Malcolm Hillgartner, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever - The Musical can now be licensed through Playscripts, Inc. to be staged worldwide. Today's reading, directed by John Bronston with musical direction by Liz Toleno, features a complete cast of Stagedoor Manor students.

Cortland Repertory Theatre's "CRT KIDS" program will present four performances of an original version of the classic tale "The Jungle Book".  Written and directed by local playwright Kim L. Hubbard, the show stars CRT's six performing interns of the 2015 summer season.  Funny, entertaining and timely, it is appropriate for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade, and carries an important message about friendship and ecology.

The regional premiere of THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA opened at the Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival and runs through July 15.  1950s Florence, Italy.  A love story for everyone. On a trip to Florence, Margaret and her daughter Clara have a chance encounter with a young Italian man named Fabrizio. Clara and Fabrizio begin to fall for each other while Margaret wrestles with her concerns over Clara and her future. Book by Craig Lucas, Music and Lyrics by Adam Guettel.
Adirondack Shakespeare Company Kicks Off Fifth Season Next Month

Since 2010, the Adirondack Shakespeare Company has been serving up a world-class Summer Festival Season in upstate New York with professional productions of classical plays and original works for children. This year in addition to its regular line-up, the Company is adding an Arts & Crafts Workshop to its children play, Songs of the Iroquois: Turtle Island thanks to an ongoing fundraiser through Adirondack Gives.
