Nive Nielsen Misses TV Debut for the Birth of Her Twins, Plus New Music Coming Soon

AMC premiered it's new drama/horror seriesThe Terror Monday night, marking the TV debut of Greenlandic actress and musician, Nive Nielsen; however, Nielsen was unable to witness the show's official launch as she went into labor hours before the show's first episode aired! Although Nielsen had featured roles in film prior to her starring role in The Terror, she had made a name for herself as the frontwoman of indie rock band, Nive and The Deer Children. The band released the band's sophomore album Feet First in the US this February, its first release in the territory, and plan to release its third album later this year.

Nive and The Deer Children originally debuted in 2009 with it's self-released album Nive Sings!, which would go on to achieve gold status in the band's home country - one in 10 people there own it. After the release of sophomore album Feet First in 2016, Nive and the Deer Children went on major tours throughout Europe, North America, Japan, and South Korea.

"Feet First draws on my experiences from travelling the world, including the US," said Nielsen. "I am thrilled to have this opportunity to connect and share Feet First with more people.

"Everything about this project is magical," said Marauder's Managing Partner Rev. Moose." The music, the story, the people behind it all have a specialness to them. It's flattering to help a project like this reach a new audience, and it gives Marauder a new and unique way of working with an artist that might not otherwise reach a North American audience."

The band's origins trace back to Nielsen's time in Ottawa, where she bumped into future bandmate Jan de Vroede, who encouraged Nielsen to assuage her boredom by playing the ukulele and writing some songs. Despite never having written or sung before, Nielsen took it as a challenge and came back to Jan after a few weeks to play the song "Room," which later became one of the first songs produced by Nive and The Deer Children.

Since their debut, Nive and The Deer Children have toured extensively around the world, performing for dignitaries in the Selvstyre-Greenland's self-government-and the Queen of Denmark while also being the first Greenlandic band to participate at SXSW, Iceland Airwaves, Eurosonic, and Green Man. Nive and The Deer Children's music has also been included in several films, most notably Nuummioq, which was featured at Sundance International Film Festival.

Outside of the Deer Children, Nielsen has studied abroad towards a BA in Politics and MA in Visual Anthropology; following her studies, she returned home to work for Greenland national TV and radio as a researcher, segment producer, and host of several locally produced shows and documentaries. This experience would eventually earned her a small appearance in the featured film The New World starring Colin Farrell. If that weren't enough, Nielsen even spends time leading whale watching tours in Greenland - where she still lives!

Nive and The Deer Children will soon return to the studio to begin work on the follow-up album to Feet First.
