Today marks one year out from the start of The Winter Olympics, which will begin on Feb. 8, 2018, in PyeongChang, South Korea. NBCUniversal will celebrate the occasion with a host of promotional and editorial initiatives that span the company's unprecedented portfolio of broadcast, cable, digital, regional, local, and radio assets.

"One year out is always the beginning of our comprehensive Olympic consumer engagement plan in which we use the unmatched power of NBCUniversal's promotional and editorial assets to connect viewers to the athletes and the Games," said Jenny Storms, CMO, NBC Sports Group. "Our 2018 campaign will focus on the stories of the athletes more than ever before, and it all begins with our 60-second 'road block' content. By curating fun and personable content from the athletes' very own social media accounts, we're able to introduce the public to emerging stars such as Nathan Chen and Chloe Kim, and reconnect them to Olympic champions such as Lindsey Vonn and Shaun White."

Following is a rundown of some of the one-year-out initiatives being executed across NBCUniversal on February 8:

NBCUNIVERSAL

Road Block: At 8 p.m. ET/PT, NBCUniversal will unleash a consumer engagement "road block" that consists of a 60-second Olympic announcement voiced by This Is Us star Milo Ventimiglia. It will air across more than a dozen NBCU broadcast and cable networks, including NBC, NBCSN, Golf Channel, Bravo, CNBC, MSNBC, USA Network, and others. Click here to watch the spot.

Digital Content: NBCUniversal will digitally display one-year-out promotional and editorial content across its more than 50 websites. Most websites will stream the 60-second Olympic promo, display banner advertising, and/or dedicate editorial content consistent with the site's brand.

Social Media: Numerous NBCUniversal social media accounts will spread one-year-out messages across the most popular destinations, including Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, and many more. Efforts will include an 8 a.m. ET social media "road block" across numerous NBCU accounts, the consistent use of the hashtag #WinterOlympics, and the incorporation of content featuring Olympic hopefuls and legends. In partnership with NBCUniversal, Shaun White will be featured on Buzzfeed.

E-Blast and Notifications: NBCUniversal will blast a one-year-out email to numerous constituents, including broadcast and cable affiliates, advertisers, and consumers. In addition, the NBC Sports app will send one-year-out notification to its consumers.

Affiliates: Olympic promotional materials will also be distributed by NBCUniversal affiliates and owned-and-operated stations. Stations will run short promotional announcements, Olympic editorial coverage, and social media content. Additionally, cable, satellite, telco and streaming pay TV distribution partners, including Comcast, will promote the Games.

USOC: NBCUniversal will work in coordination with the United States Olympic Committee, which also has an extensive one-year-out promotional plan. The USOC will utilize NBC Sports' 60-second Olympic promo
