According to Deadline.com, Warner Brothers will halt shipping of HARRY POTTER DVD's to stores beginning December 29, 2011. The studio is attempting to increase sales of the film by encouraging buyers to purchase the DVD while they are still available on shelves.

Warner Brothers plans to re-release the films for sale periodically. Beginning in 2001, Disney Studios began a similar strategy, releasing such classics as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Bambi, Fantasia and The Lion King.

The Harry Potter franchise has been a huge money maker for Warner Brothers, grossing over $12.1 billion (£7.6 billion) for the studio since the 2001 release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
