Finola Hughes to Lead Indie Film PLATINUM THE DANCE MOVIE

Variety reports exclusively that Finola Hughes will headline the indie feature PLATINUM THE DANCE MOVIE. The soap star will join previously announced cast members Kathryn McCormick, Shane Harper, Carolyn Hennesy, David Burtka and Marlowe Peyton on the film.

Alex DiMarco will helm the project from a script by Amy George and Mark Goodman. Across The Floor Productions will produce. Shooting is scheduled to begin this week in LA.

Hughes will portray the 'dance mom' of a daughter who is "trying to win the national dance competition. Her biggest rival is played by Harper, and this rivalry is compounded by the fact that they are falling in love."

Best known for role as Anna Devane on the ABC soap opera General Hospital, General Hospital, the actress also appeared as Anna Devane's identical twin sister, Doctor Alexandra Devane Marick, on All My Children. She is also known as Patty Halliwell on the Supernatural series, Charmed, and as Carol on the NBC sitcom Blossom. In films, she is known for her role in Staying Alive, Aspen Extreme, Above Suspicion and Like Crazy.

She recently made her directorial debut on the indie romantic comedy "The Bet."
