ABC's NIGHTLINE Is #1 For Second Consecutive Week

ABC News' "Nightline" placed first among Adults 25-54, Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers for the week of May 31, 2010, outperforming CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman" and NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," according to Nielsen Media Research. This is the second consecutive week "Nightline" has ranked first. "Nightline" posted 3.79 million Total Viewers, increasing +18% compared to the same week last year, while "The Tonight Show" decreased -43% and "Letterman" dropped -18%. Season to date, "Nightline" posted 3.83 million Total Viewers, just 40,000 viewers away from first place.

For the week, among Adults 25-54, "Nightline" averaged 1.63 million (1.3 rating), growing +20% compared to the same week last year, while "The Tonight Show" declined -52% and "Letterman" decreased -10%. Among A18-49, "Nightline" grew +19% year to year. *Note: Due to the Memorial Day holiday, all three programs excluded Monday from the average. "Letterman" and "Leno" aired repeats last week.

ABC News' "Nightline" is anchored by Cynthia McFadden, Terry Moran and Martin Bashir. John Donvan and Vicki Mabrey are correspondents. James Goldston is the executive producer. The program airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m., ET on the ABC Television Network.
