ABC's GREATEST HITS Builds Week to Week in Viewers

During the week of July 11, 2016, ABC ranked No. 1 in Adults 18-49 (1.1/4 - tied w/ NBC) with 6 of the Top 20 TV shows: "The Bachelorette" - No. 4, "The ESPY Awards" - No. 10, "Celebrity Family Feud" - No. 11, "The $100,000 Pyramid" - No. 12, "Match Game" - No. 15 and "To Tell the Truth" - No. 18. In addition, "Celebrity Family Feud," "The $100,000 Pyramid" and "The Bachelorette," each landed among the Top 10 most watched TV shows overall. "The Bachelorette" was also the week's No. 1 TV show in Adults 18-34 (tie). ABC's "20/20" was the week's No. 1 newsmagazine for the 4th straight week among Adults 18-49 (tied w/ CBS' "60 Minutes" on Sunday).

ABC's primetime delivery grew by double digits week to week in Total Viewers (+21% - 4.6 million vs. 3.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (+38% - 1.1/4 vs. 0.8/3) to 4-week highs on both counts - since w/o 6/13/16. In addition, the Net increased its overall Total Viewer count (+2%) year to year for the 4th time in the last 5 weeks.

Monday
ABC ranked No. 1 Monday in Total Viewers (5.5 million) and as the No. 1 broadcaster in Adults 18-49 (1.5/6-tied w/ NBC) while winning the night for the 5th time in the last 6 weeks among all key Women.

• ABC's "The Bachelorette" was Monday's most watched show overall (6.9 million) and the night's No. 1 TV series in Adults 18-49 for its 6th straight first-run telecast (1.9/7).

"The Bachelorette" (8:00-10:01 p.m. - 6.9 million and 1.9/7 in AD18-49):
Ranking as the No. 1 broadcaster in each half-hour among young adults from 8:00-10:00 p.m., "The Bachelorette" led runner-up NBC in the 2-hour slot (w/ "American Ninja Warrior") by 10% in Total Viewers (6.9 million vs. 6.3 million) and 6% among Adults 18-49 (1.9/7 vs. 1.8/7).

"Mistresses" (10:01-11:00 p.m. - 3.0 million and 0.7/3 in AD18-49):
At 10:00 p.m. "Mistresses" outperformed CBS' "Braindead" in the hour by 75% in Adults 18-49 (0.7/3 vs. 0.4/2). The ABC drama improved from its most recent regular telecast (2.8 million on 6/27/16) in Total Viewers (+7%) to its most watched in 5 weeks - since 6/6/16.

Tuesday
"To Tell The Truth" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 5.2 million and 1.1/4 in AD18-49):
Despite following a repeat of "The $100,000 Pyramid," the season finale of ABC's "To Tell the Truth" was up over the prior week by double digits in Total Viewers (+18% - 5.2 million vs. 4.4 million) and Adults 18-49 (+10% - 1.1/4 vs. 1.0/4) to score 4-week highs - since 6/14/16.

• At 10:00 p.m., "To Tell The Truth" topped the finale of NBC's "Maya & Marty" (which had the benefit of leading out of an original "America's Got Talent") by 33% in Total Viewers (5.2 million vs. 3.9 million) and 10% in Adults 18-49 (1.1/4 vs. 1.0/4).

• "To Tell The Truth" was up from original programming in the 10:00 p.m. hour on the year-ago night by 2.2 million Total Viewers and by 22% in Adults 18-49 ("Extreme Weight Loss" on 7/14/15 = 3.0 million and 0.9/3, respectively).

Wednesday
With its telecast of "The 2016 ESPYS," ABC was second on Wednesday in Total Viewers (5.6 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.7/7). The Net ranked No. 1 on the night in key Men (M18-34/M18-49).

• Coming off last year's high-rated inaugural telecast on ABC (which honored Caitlyn Jenner with the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage), "The 2016 ESPYS" posted its 2nd-best numbers in Total Viewers (5.6 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.7/7).

• Peaking in the 10 o'clock hour, "The 2016 ESPY Awards" grew by 36% among Adults 18-49 from its first hour to its final hour (1.4/6 to 1.9/7) and moved up to No. 1 in the hour, beating NBC's "Night Shift" by 58% (1.2/5) and CBS' "American Gothic" by 280% (0.5/2).

• With 674,051 tweets, "The 2016 ESPY Awards" was Wednesday's most social program.

• The top 5 highest-rated markets in Households: Knoxville (7.9/12), Kansas City (7.0/12), Cleveland (6.9/12), Atlanta (6.4/11) and Charlotte (6.1/10).

Thursday
Featuring a town hall presentation with President Obama at 8:00 p.m., followed by "Greatest Hits" at 9:00 p.m. and a repeat "Match Game" at 10:00 p.m., ABC took second among the major nets on Thursday night in Total Viewers (4.4 million) and Adults 18-49 (0.9/4).

Editors please note: "BattleBots" was pre-empted at 8:00 p.m. for "The President and The People: A National Conversation," which was simulcast commercial-free on ABC, ESPN and Freeform.

"Greatest Hits" (9:00-10:00 p.m. - 4.4 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):
At 9:00 p.m., ABC's "Greatest Hits" ranked second in the hour in Total Viewers (4.4 million) behind CBS' "Big Brother 18," outdrawing NBC's "Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge" by 1.3 million viewers (3.1 million) and Fox's "Home Free" by 2.3 million (2.1 million).

• "Greatest Hits" grew week to week by 26% in Total Viewers (4.4 million vs. 3.5 million) and held even among Adults 18-49 (0.9/4).

"Match Game-R" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 3.1 million and 0.8/3 in AD18-49):
At 10:00 p.m., an encore of ABC's "Match Game" doubled NBC's first-run "Aquarius" (+100% - 0.8/3 vs. 0.4/2).

Sunday
ABC dominated Sunday night, beating runner-up CBS by 1.4 million viewers (6.3 million vs. 4.9 million) and by 44% in Adults 18-49 (1.3/5 vs. 0.9/3).

"Celebrity Family Feud" (8:00-9:00 p.m. - 7.8 million and 1.6/6 in AD18-49):
At 8:00 p.m., ABC's "Celebrity Family Feud" was the most watched TV show in the hour by 1.9 million viewers over CBS' "Big Brother" (7.8 million vs. 5.9 million).

• "Celebrity Family Feud" was up for the 2nd week in a row with Total Viewers (+5% - 7.8 million vs. 7.4 million) to deliver a best-since premiere number - since 6/26/16. In addition, the show gained 6% in Adults 18-49 and spiked by 22% in Adults 18-34 to tie and set season highs, respectively.

"The $100,000 Pyramid" (9:00-10:00 p.m. - 7.2 million and 1.5/5 in AD18-49):
ABC's "The $100,000 Pyramid" won the 9 o'clock hour among Total Viewers (7.2 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.5/5). The show was up in Total Viewers to a best-since-premiere number and matched the prior week in Adults 18-49.

• "Pyramid" grew over original programming in the 9:00 p.m. hour on the year-ago night by 2.8 million Total Viewers and by 15% in Adults 18-49 ("BattleBots" on 7/19/15 = 4.4 million and 1.3/4).

"Match Game" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 5.7 million and 1.2/4 in AD18-49):
ABC's "Match Game" took first place in the 10 o'clock hour with Total Viewers (5.7 million) in Adults 18-49 (1.2/4). "Match Game" held even with Adults 18-49 to tie its 2nd strongest performance yet. The new game show improved its hour for ABC by 68% in Total Viewers and by 50% in Adults 18-49 from the year-ago night with original programming ("Save My Life" = 3.4 million and 0.8/3 on 7/19/15).
