Venere Picks Summer 2013's Travel Trends Into Italy; 10% Discount

By: Jul. 10, 2013

Venere.com, Expedia's Rome-based OTA, reports that, based on their reservations data so far for this summer season, both local and American tourists are increasingly choosing to spend their summer in the smaller, cheaper and less traditionally touristy towns of the Bel Paese.

Let us start with the North of Italy, we have Emilia-Romagna and Liguria where coincidentally, Porto Venere (not related to Venere.com) is seeing 134 percent growth, of which 27 percent are Italians and 25 percent Americans. Rio Maggiore, of the famous Cinque Terre, is also seeing a 19 percent uptake where a quarter is coming from the US.

Next we come into Umbria, where Spoleto, home to the summer festival of the arts, is growing 48 percent, mainly driven by Italians, who make up 75 percent of the bookings. Americans are choosing more traditional Tuscany towns like Radda in Chianti (up 56 percent among Americans).

Americans heading down south, may want to stop in Naples, the perfect base camp for those eager to visit the ancient Roman city of Pompei (up 36 percent among Americans) and enjoy the most breathtaking views of Salerno's Amalfi Coast (up 14 percent).

So if you're looking for that authentic Italian experience, take a tour of Italy "come si deve" by choosing some of the authentic hotels and bed & breakfasts found on venere.com , and tell them Venere.com sent you.
