- February 01, 2011 In April of 2010 the Metropolitan Opera mounted the company premiere production of Rossini's opera Armida starring American soprano Renée Fleming in the title role. Fleming had previously triumphed at the opera house in other lesser-known operas (Il Pirata, Thaïs, Rodelinda and others) and so it was with great acclaim that the Met staged this bel canto rarity specifically for the soprano. The May 1, 2010 performance was broadcast as part of the Met's Live in HD series and it is now brought to DVD by Decca - available February 15, 2011.

Directed by John Hoomes and featuring the Nashville Symphony conducted by Maestro William Boggs. The international cast of principal artists include Scott Conner (bass) as Figaro, Anne-Carolyn Bird (soprano) as Susanna; Corey McKern (baritone) as Count Almaviva, Georgia Jarman (soprano) as Countess Almaviva; and Kirsten Gunlogson (mezzo-soprano) as Cherubino. Amy Tate Williams, Chorusmaster/Accompanist, leads the Nashville Opera Ensemble. Tickets range in price from $19 to $95, and the company also offers its unique Pay-What-You-Can option which carries a suggested minimum donation of $5 per seat.

- January 26, 2011 The Metropolitan Opera's new production of Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov starring René Pape as Boris and conducted by Valery Gergiev, will air on THIRTEEN's Great Performances Sunday, February 13 at 12 p.m. ET on PBS (check local listings). (In New York, THIRTEEN will air the program Thursday, February 10 at 8 p.m. ET.) Stephen Wadsworth directs the company's first new production of the opera since 1974. The program was originally seen live in movie theaters on October 23, 2010 as part of the groundbreaking The Met: Live in HD series, which transmits live performances to more than 1500 movie theaters and performing arts centers in 46 countries around the world.
