The soprano portrays Donna Anna in the Cincinnati Opera production of Mozart's Don Giovanni (June 13, 15), with Verdi performances to follow at the Caramoor International Music Festivalin Katonah, NY (June 27, July 6), Bravo! Vail with the Philadelphia Orchestra led by Yannick Nézet-Séguin (July 13), and the Grand Tetons Music Festival under Donald Runnicles (July 26-27).

It tells of Macbeth and his wife as they go on a killing spree in a desperate attempt to maintain the throne of Scotland. They are propelled by the prophecies of witches and as these omens eventualize, the couple lose their grip on the power they seek. Verdi brings us in to a piece that is beautiful in its eeriness.

- May 31, 2013 Sarasota Opera's Executive Director Richard Russell has announced that the company has appointed Stacy Ridenour as its new Director of Development in an executive search process guided by Arts Consulting Group. As Director of Development, Ms. Ridenour will supervise a department working toward an annual fundraising goal of $2.75 million and creating a funding strategy to support the company's future plans. She will officially assume her new role on July 1, 2013.
Ari Pelto Joins Opera Colorado as Artistic Advisor by BWW News Desk
- May 31, 2013 Opera Colorado announced today that it has appointed conductor Ari Pelto as Artistic Advisor. Pelto's role will commence with the Company's 2014 season, working hand-in-hand with General Director Greg Carpenter and conducting one opera per season beginning in the fall of 2014. Pelto made his Opera Colorado debut earlier this year, conducting the company's highly-acclaimed production of Mozart's Don Giovanni in March 2013. Known for presenting contemporary and rarely performed works as well as more traditional productions of classic opera repertoire, Opera Colorado is the preeminent grand opera company in the Rocky Mountain region and a vital presence in Denver's cultural ecology.

- May 26, 2013 Legendary opera star, Elaine Malbin, will be among a panel of experts judging the 13th Annual Mario Lanza and Elaine Malbin Vocal Competitions which will be held on the main stage at Broadway and 86th Street from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Other judges will include Bill Ronayne, President of the Mario Lanza Society; Lewis Ehlers, noted opera agent and an associate with Robert Lombardo and Associates; and Cristina Necula, an opera singer and author of My Life in Opera. A total of 29 singers -- nine tenors and 20 sopranos - have registered as of this date and will compete for prizes. The competitions are the largest outdoor competitions in the country.

- May 23, 2013 In just a little over two years, Irish mezzo-soprano Tara Erraught has made the transition from young singer to an emerging artist whose talent has captured the attention of the international opera public. Since February 2011, when as a member of the distinguished Bavarian State Opera (Bayerische Staatsoper) she won widespread international acclaim in the title role of a new production of Ravel's L'Enfant et les Sortileges and, in the same month, jumped in for an ailing colleague on five days notice to perform Romeo in a new production of Bellini's I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Ms. Erraught has been one to watch. The latest recognition of her work comes from the Bavarian Government which has bestowed upon her the prestigious Pro meritis scientiae et litterarum, given annually since 2000 in recognition for outstanding contribution to science and the arts. At 26 years of age, she is only the fifth musician to receive this honor since the award's inception, and the youngest so honored.
