BWW Reviews: ALO Introduced Austin to Up-And-Coming Opera Stars with ELIXIR OF LOVE by Jeff Davis

Ultimately, lovesick Nemorino is forced to buy a love potion from a charlatan to win Adina's heart. While that may be the plot of Gaetano Donizetti's comic opera, it doesn't take a potion to fall for Austin Lyric Opera's superb production of The Elixir of Love. Every element of this superbly crafted production will win the love and adoration of the audience. Opera lovers will be entranced, and opera newcomers will be enchanted. If you are an opera novice or are under the impression that you hate opera, give this one a chance. You'll be surprised at how easy it is to follow this simple, charming, humorous show, and you'll be glad to know that given its 2 hour and 30 minute running time, it's a relatively brief affair.
BWW Reviews: The Tenor's a Cinderella, the Mezzo's Charming and the Met's CENERENTOLA is a Dream by Richard Sasanow
- May 02, 2014 When the Met's production of LA CENERENTOLA, Rossini's version of the Cinderella story. arrives in movie theatres around the world next week, the star for many will be tenor Juan Diego Florez as the prince. But he didn't make it to the first three performances of the opera this season in New York--not that we got short-changed in the matter. Mezzo Joyce DiDonato was there in the title role, as scheduled, with her wonderfully sung, deeply felt portrayal and, as the prince, was Javier Camarena, the Met's own Cinderella man.

Henry Ingram of COUSIN FROM NOWHERE, Reminisces on DER VETTER AUS DINGSDA by Kaitlin Milligan
- May 01, 2014 Roderich and I go way back. Roderich is of course, the 'echt' COUSIN FROM NOWHERE, and that was one of my roles at Stadt Theater Trier when I sang there as the Spiel Tenor for the municipal opera house. Singing in Trier was one of the most important events in my professional life and I have many, many happy memories of my time living in die Älteste Stadt Deutschlands on the banks of the Mosel. And the food…Römerbraten, Wei?wurst, Schweineschnitzel, Salzbrot, Leichtes Himbeer Eiskuchen, Hausgemachtes Sauerkraut Frikadellen und Schmalz! Not to mention the best Mosel Wein I ever drank, all from wineries on the banks of the Mosel as it snakes its way north from Trier through Bernkastel and Cochem to Koblenz.
