Opera Lancaster reported 40% greater attendance for its regular season as well as increases in the number of individual donations, business contributions and grant funding during its 2013/14 fiscal year. When its year ends on June 30, they expect total donations to be up by at least 9.5% from the year prior, grants to be up by at least 37% and business support up by 34%.
Executive Director William Dewan also reported that total attendance for all opera programs will be approximately 3000 once Opera Tales: The Three Little Pigs, a free in-school opera program for children, is completed later this month. "In all, 1000 children will have seen opera for free this year because of the generosity of our members and supporters," reported Dewan. "Opera is thriving in Lancaster." The organization also recognized Dr. Robert Roschel who was named one of Opera America's National Opera Trustee award in a ceremony that included presentations by Anne Gingerich, the Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations and Patricia Kiernan-Jonhson, the Marketing and Communications Director of Opera America.
