SummerStage Upcoming Shows: Blood Orange & Angélique Kidjo's Remain in Light

City Parks Foundation's SummerStage is rounding out the summer with two shows taking place in Central Park. For the most up-to-date scheduling and lineup for all SummerStage programming, visit www.SummerStage.org for all festival information.

On Wednesday, September 26th, Blood Orange will take the stage in Central Park for a sold out show. Blending together elements of R&B, funk, and '80s pop, Blood Orange is the most recent project of British producer and singer Dev Hynes. A well-established songwriter (having worked closely with Solange and Tinashe, among others), Hynes reached critical acclaim with his 2016 album, Freetown Sound. Hynes's distinctive R&B/electronica grooves, paired with spoken-word poetry and vocal sampling, earned the record top-20 spots on both Noisey's and Pitchfork's Best Albums of 2016. Yves Tumor will open the show. Doors will open at 5 PM, and the show will take place from 6 to 10 PM.

On Thursday, September 27th, Angélique Kidjo, the Grammy Award-winning Beninese songwriter, has been touring the world in anticipation of her cover of the Talking Heads 1980 album Remain in Light. Along with the Resistance Revival Chorus, who performed with Kidjo at the Women's March on Washington, this dazzling show will be closing SummerStage's free season in the artist's adopted home of New York. This free show will take place in Central Park from 7 to 10 PM. Doors will open at 6 PM.
