Featured performances include folk music icon Arlo Guthrie (Oct. 1-3) on his Re:Generation Tour, Austin rock band Fastball (Oct. 8), a five-night residency with the Reverend Horton Heat (Oct. 11-15), R&B/soul singer Teedra Moses (Oct. 24), turbo-charged folk from Chicago's Sons of the Never Wrong (Oct. 29) and more.

Arlo Guthrie - Re:Generation Tour

Arlo Guthrie gave his first public performance in 1961 at age 13 and quickly became involved in the music that was shaping the world. He learned something from everyone and developed his own style, becoming a distinctive, expressive voice in a crowded community of singer-songwriters and political-social commentators. Guthrie's career exploded in 1967 with the release of "Alice's Restaurant," whose title song premiered at the Newport Folk Festival and helped foster a new commitment among the '60s generation to social consciousness and activism. Arlo went on to star in the 1969 Hollywood film version of "Alice's Restaurant," directed by Arthur Penn. With songs like "Alice's Restaurant," too long for radio airplay; "Coming into Los Angeles," banned from many radio stations (but a favorite at the 1969 Woodstock Festival); and the definitive rendition of Steve Goodman's "City of New Orleans, Guthrie was no One-Hit-Wonder. An artist of international stature, he has never had a 'hit' in the usual sense. He has usually preferred to walk to his own beat rather than march in step to the drum of popular culture. Over the last five decades Guthrie has toured throughout North America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia winning a wide, popular following. In addition to his accomplishments as a musician, playing the piano, six and twelve-string guitar, harmonica and a dozen other instruments, Arlo is a natural-born storyteller, whose tales and anecdotes figure prominently in his performances.

Los Angeles based alt-rock duo Suzanne Santo (vocals, banjo, violin) and Ben Jaffe (vocals, guitar) are the founding members of HONEYHONEY. Their sound is a mix of pop, country, folk and soul. They have produced three albums to date. After the release of their most recent album, 3, the website American Songwriter said

Harmonica virtuoso John Popper is a founding member of the Grammy Award Winning rock band Blues Traveler known for their 90's hit "Run-Around". Blues Traveler's most recent album, Blow up the Moon, was released in April 2015 and featured performances from guest artists including Thompson Square, Plain White T's, 3OH!3, Hanson, Jewel, Secondhand Serenade, Dirty Heads & Rome Ramirez (Sublime), JC Chasez (NSYNC), Bowling for Soup, New Hollow and Thomas Ian Nicholas. In his appearance at City Winery, Popper shares music and stories from the group's 30+ years together.

With nearly 20 years of musical explorations and milestones under its belt, Fastball remains one of the most consistent and continuously celebrated rock bands on the road these days. After rising to prominence in 1996 with their debut album Make Your Mama Proud, the Austin, Texas-based trio exploded into a household name come 1998's breakthrough project All the Pain Money Can Buy, joining the likes of fellow artfully spun acts like The Wallflowers, Matthew Sweet, The Jayhawks, Cracker and the Ryan Adams-fronted Whiskeytown on the charts. During the band's career, they have earned a pair of coveted Grammy nominations, an MTV Music Award nomination and regular rotation on the late-night talk show circuit, including appearances on Conan, Letterman and Leno. They have released six albums to date, the most recent of which, Step Into Light, was released in May.

Fleming is known for his own arrangements of Irish classics "Danny Boy," "Isle of Inisfree" and "Hard Times," while also covering songs including "You Raise Me Up," "Bridge over Troubled Waters," "From a Distance" and "Something Inside So Strong" along with more contemporary numbers. His unique talent has brought him worldwide recognition with several sell-out tours in Ireland, the UK, the U.S., Australia and Japan. Fleming has many times been described as the "Voice of Ireland" and is one of Ireland's top entertainers, with over 3 million album sales worldwide.

City Winery Chicago is pleased to announce a five-night residency of legendary psychobilly rockers the Reverend Horton Heat. Formed in 1985 in Dallas, Texas, the rock trio is known for their unique reinterpretations of American country-blues-rock mixing elements of surf, country, punk, big band and rockabilly. Led by frontman Jim Heath, a Reverend Horton Heat performance is a transformative rock 'n roll experience like no other. Heath becomes channels Screamin' Jay Hawkins through Buddy Holly while Jimbo Wallace incinerates the stand-up bass. Heath and Wallace have been touring for twenty-five years. Most recently, Reverend Horton Heat released a limited edition 7-inch vinyl single for 2016's Record Store Day, including the track "Hardscrabble Woman," and the previously unreleased "Lying To Myself."
Each performance will also feature special guest Clownvis Presley. With songs that run the gamut from heartbreaking to satirical and a host of unforgettable film scores, Randy Newman has used his many talents to create musical masterpieces widely recognized by generations of audiences. After starting his songwriting career as a teenager, Newman launched into recording as a singer and pianist in 1968 with his self-titled album Randy Newman. Throughout the 1970s he released several other acclaimed albums. In addition to his solo recordings and regular international touring, Newman began composing and scoring for films in the 1980s, including The Natural, Awakenings, Ragtime, all three Toy Story pictures, Seabiscuit, James and the Giant Peach and more. His many honors include six Grammys, three Emmys, and two Academy Awards, as well as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Newman just announced Dark Matter (Nonesuch Records) his first album of all new material since 2008, will be released in August. With every online ticket purchased, audience members will receive a choice of either a standard physical or standard digital copy of Dark Matter on August 4th, 2017. Chicago's Henhouse Prowlers have been touring for the past 11 years with a sound inspired by the roots of bluegrass while branching out into a sound uniquely their own. From lightning fast picking, to sentimental ballads they play a diverse mix of storied original material, traditional songs and contemporary covers. They have worked with the US State Department on four separate trips in 10 different countries in Sub-Saharan Africa as well as Russia, and are touring throughout Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg this summer. Their most recent album, Still On That Ride, was released in 2015. Along with their cover of the Nigerian pop hit "Chop My Money," the album consists of 13 original songs, and is the band's most self-authored work to date.

The Dayna Clay Band brings Paul McComas' acclaimed 2002 novel, UNPLUGGED to life on stage in an original alt-rock musical about Dayna Clay, a 27-year-old rock star, battling post-traumatic stress and depression in the wake of an abusive childhood. Featuring songs by McComas and Maya Kuper, UNPLUGGED: A Survivor's Story in Scenes & Songs chronicles Dayna's bumpy journey out of depression, through the South Dakota Badlands, and into self-discovery, healing, full embrace of her bisexuality, and love. All proceeds from the Dayna Clay Band's performances benefit the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN)'s National Sexual Assault Hotline, as well as The Kennedy Forum, which works to eliminate the stigma of mental illness and enforce parity for behavioral healthcare.

Chicago-based, Iowa-born singer-songwriter Susan Werner opted to forgo a career as an opera singer, choosing to dedicate herself to songwriting instead, building a reputation at jazz clubs, coffeehouses, and folk festivals along the Eastern Seaboard. Werner has toured the nation with acts such as Richard Thompson, Keb Mo, and Joan Armatrading, and was featured in a 1998 Peter, Paul, and Mary PBS special as one of the best of the next generation of folk songwriters. She has 11 albums to date, the most recent of which, Hayseed, is the fourth in a series of concept albums, and pays tribute to American agriculture and Werner's Iowa farm roots, with subjects such as farmer's markets, agrochemicals, climate change, drought, longing for a sense of place, and the movement towards sustainable agriculture.

Craig Finn is best known as the frontman of acclaimed rock outfit The Hold Steady, with whom he has released six studio albums. Prior to The Hold Steady, Finn was the also the frontman of Minneapolis post-punk band Lifter Puller. Finn comes to City Winery, with songs from his third and most recent solo record, We All Want The Same Things (Partisan Records) released in March. Songs explore themes of love and partnership in the modern world, expressed via Finn's signature character studies, black humor, and smartly arranged rock 'n' roll.

Teedra Moses released her debut album Complex Simplicity, with fourteen tracks self-penned by Moses, in August 2004. The album underperformed on the U.S. chart, debuting and peaking at number one hundred and sixty-eight on the Billboard 200. However, the album was "Critically Acclaimed" and otherwise found success on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, the Top Independent Albums, and the Top Heatseekers, reaching number twenty, number eleven, and number ten, respectively. She has since released California Vibes EP (2014) and Cognac & Conversation (2015).
Moses has also written songs for other artists including Nivea, Christina Milian and Mary J. Blige. She was featured on and co-wrote two songs from Raphael Saadiq's 2004 album Ray Ray "Chic" and "I Want You Back." Her songs have been showcased in the Logo series "Noah's Arc" as well as in the HBO hit show "Entourage" and movies such as Never Die Alone, Beauty Shop, and Be Cool.

When Buffalo Springfield broke up in 1968, its members went on to form Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and Poco. Band members have come and gone, many of them to the Eagles, Loggins and Messina and other yacht rock outfits. 45 years later, Poco is still going strong, on tour with their latest album.

Actor, writer and musician Jeff Daniels has played more than 300 gigs over the past 12 years from Maine to Alaska and California. Most recently he has been seen as Will McAvoy on HBO's The Newsroom, and with Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber To. Currently, he's "drinking from the fountain of youth" by touring with his son's band, The Ben Daniels Band. When Ben Daniels decided he was going to be a musician, it was more than a career choice. A natural poet, this young songwriter went to school on Bob Dylan, Robert Johnson, and Jack White, among others. With Tommy Reifel on bass, George Merkel on guitar, Wesley Fritzemeier on drums and mandolin, and Daniels' wife, singer/songwriter Amanda Daniels on vocals, the Ben Daniels Band's live show never fails to take over the venue. With five CDs under its belt, the Ben Daniels Band has grown to be a formidable group that cuts through with its originality, musicianship, and a sound that spans Americana, Blues, Jazz, and Rock. Dave Alvin & Jimmie Dale Gilmore

Dave Alvin & Jimmie Dale Gilmore have been friends for 30 years, but only recently realized they had never played music with each other before. In 2017, Grammy winner Alvin and Grammy nominee Gilmore decided to hit the highway to swap songs, tell stories, and share their life experiences in intimate, acoustic environments. Though Texas born Gilmore was twice named Country Artist of the Year by Rolling Stone and California native Alvin first came to fame in the hard rocking rhythm and blues band The Blasters, they discovered that their musical roots in old blues and folk music are the same. In their spontaneous shows, audiences will not only hear classic original compositions from the two, but they can also choose songs that include a wide spectrum of songwriters and styles - from old jug band numbers to Merle Haggard and Sam Cooke to the Young Bloods 60's anthem, "Get Together." Each of these rare and special performances are different from the last.

Join Chicago folk trio Sons of the Never Wrong - Sue Demel, Deborah Lader and Bruce Roper - as they celebrate their 25-year anniversary and the release of their new album Song of Sons. Their original "turbo-charged folk music" skewers the notion of three-part harmony within original, whimsical songs that spring from both a folk tradition and some other melodic planet you might never have visited. Guests John Abbey, John Erickson and Gerald Dowd will join the Sons of the Never Wrong for this extra special show. Opening for Sons is award-winning songwriter Jonas Friddle.

Legendary singer-songwriter and social justice activist David Crosby is a two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, inducted as a member of both the iconic folk-rock band The Byrds - with whom he first rose to stardom - and the iconic Woodstock era-defining group Crosby, Stills & Nash. As part of his latest tour, Crosby will be performing music from his soon to be released new album Sky Trails alongside some of his best-loved songs and greatest hits. Joining him will be five musical friends: James Raymond on keys, Mai Agan on bass, Steve DiStanislao on drums, Jeff Pevar on guitar and Michelle Willis on keys and vocals.
In Los Angeles in 1963, Crosby formed The Byrds with Roger McGuinn, Chris Hillman, Gene Clark and Michael Clarke, winning widespread recognition for his songwriting and charismatic presence. Driven by hits including "Eight Miles High," "Turn! Turn! Turn!," and a cover of Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man," The Byrds' signature electric folk-rock influenced countless musicians to come. He left The Byrds in 1967 to embark on a lifelong collaboration with Graham Nash and Stephen Stills. Renowned for vocal harmonies, stellar musicianship and timeless songs, Crosby, Stills, & Nash (CSN) have been called "the voice of a generation," and were Grammy-honored in 1969 as Best New Artist. As a solo artist, Crosby debuted with the 1971 masterpiece If Only I Could Remember My Name. 2014's Croz was his first solo album of studio material in 20 years. His most recent solo album, Lighthouse, was released in October 2016, an intimate, stripped-down set that highlights Crosby's instantly recognizable voice, incisive songwriting and incomparable guitar work.
