BWW Reviews: Gelsey Kirkland Ballet Presents Harlequinade and Cavalry Halt by Rose Marija
- March 31, 2015 On March 27 & 28, 2015, Co-Artistic Directors, Gelsey Kirkland and Michael Chernov presented, at Peter Norton Symphony Space, a double bill of Marius Petipa's ballets of another era, well chosen for their young company, a large number of whom are students at the Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet. Harlequinade, choreographed in 1900, to the music of Riccardo Drigo, is a classic comedy based on the characters of Commedia Dell'Arte. Cavalry Halt, created in 1896, to the music of Johann Armsheimer and Johann Strauss, is rarely performed today. I had never seen it.

The performance features "Beast," the choreographic debut of RNDC company member Hanna Brictson, and the all-new "the frost that binds" by three-time RNDC guest choreographer Adam Barruch. Atlantic City Ballet Premieres New Pieces for Young Choreographers Series Tonight by BWW News Desk
- March 28, 2015 Known for it's international company of dancers, the Atlantic City Ballet will be featuring some home grown talent, as part of their Young Choreographers Series. The series will feature three company member's choreography and one of those featured dancers is Sara Lonngren a NJ native from Mt. Laurel, NJ. Sara started her career training with the National Ballet of New Jersey. She attended the University of Arts in Philadelphia where she received a BFA in Ballet Performance. Upon graduation she attended the Atlantic City Ballet's Summer Intensive and was asked to join the company in the Fall of 2006.

The world-renowned troupe from Salt Lake City does have the classics in its repertoire, but the decision by Artistic Director Adam Sklute to bring his superb dancers to NYC in pieces by four celebrated if sometimes controversial current choreographers was a wise one.

- March 26, 2015 Festival Ballet Providence (FBP) will top off its 2014-2015 season with Rhode Island and world premieres by new and veteran choreographers in the third program of the Up Close on Hope series. The program takes place in FBP's Black Box Theatre, 826 Hope Street over three consecutive weekends - April 10-11, 17-18, and 24-25, 2015, Friday nights at 8pm, Saturday night at 7:30pm - and will feature choreography by first-time and veteran choreographers. - March 26, 2015 Minneapolis, MN (March 25, 2015) – Northrop at the University of Minnesota presents the Martha Graham Dance Company on Fri, Apr 10 and Sat, Apr 11 at 8:00 pm. The renowned company performs two evenings of different programming, including Graham's rarely performed Rite of Spring, and works by international choreographers Nacho Duato and Andonis Foniandakis.
