- August 05, 2016 Early Music Vancouver (EMV) announces the headline event of its 2016 Vancouver Bach Festival: the Mass in B Minor on August 5, 7:30pm at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts. Esteemed conductor Alexander Weimann leads an ensemble of eight internationally-renowned soloists, a professional chorus comprising of some of the finest singers in the region, and Montreal's Arion Baroque Orchestra on period instruments.

- August 02, 2016 Orange County, Calif.—Aug. 1, 2016—Labor Day weekend has never sounded so good! It's time to celebrate and commemorate nearly three decades of Pacific Symphony concerts at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre during the very last concert before the venue's scheduled closure. Replete with booming cannons, dazzling fireworks and extraordinary music, “Tchaikovsky Spectacular” ensures this remarkable era in the Symphony's history ends with a triumphant finale. The program is a Tchaikovsky hit parade featuring excerpts from the perennially popular ballets “Swan Lake” and “The Nutcracker,” and two beloved concertos—the Violin Concerto in D Major and Piano Concerto No. 1. Music Director Carl St.Clair takes the audience down memory lane and leads the orchestra and two virtuosic soloists, pianist Natasha Paremski and violinist Paul Huang, as well as the Huntington Beach Concert Band. The curtain falls on this chapter of the Symphony's story to the traditional sounds of the electrifying “1812” Overture.
Vienna Philharmonic to Release SUMMER NIGHT Concert on CD, DVD & More, 9/30 by BWW News Desk
- August 01, 2016 NEW YORK, NEW YORK (July 25, 2016)—Conducted by Semyon Bychkov in May 2016, the 13th annual Vienna Philharmonic Summer Night Concert Schönbrunn will be released on CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, and digital platforms by Sony Classical on August 12 and broadcast on PBS's Great Performances on Friday, September 30 at 9 p.m. (check local listings.). The Summer Night Concerts are presented free each year in the gardens of Vienna's Imperial Schönbrunn Palace, and Mr. Bychkov—conducting the event for the first time—led the Vienna Philharmonic in front of its largest Summer Night Concert audience ever (102,000 spectators). The performance reached an additional 585,000 people through TV and radio, having been broadcast by 83 stations on five continents.
Bis Records to Release Final Recording of Minnesota Orchestra's SIBELIUS Series, 9/9 by BWW News Desk
- August 01, 2016 The Swedish label BIS Records releases the final recording of the Minnesota Orchestra's celebrated Sibelius symphonies series. Conducted by Music Director Osmo Vänskä, who is known for his Sibelius interpretations, the album features the Finnish composer's Third, Sixth and Seventh Symphonies. The new recording will be released nationwide in the United States on September 9, but is available now through the Orchestra's website at minnesotaorchestra.org.

Dashing and debonair, Bond's movie themes are instantly recognizable, evoking international intrigue, glamour and suspense. Making this concert especially memorable are vocalist Scott Coulter and two-time Grammy Award-winner Sheena Easton, featured singer on the James Bond soundtrack, “For Your Eyes Only.” With more than 20 million records worldwide, Easton joins the Symphony to seduce the audience into the world of “Goldfinger,” “The Spy Who Loved Me,” “A View to a Kill,” “Skyfall” and more. Britt Orchestra to Premiere Michael Gordon Work, Today by BWW News Desk
- July 29, 2016 (UPDATED June 8, 2016) — On July 29-30, members of the Britt Orchestra and Music Director Teddy Abrams will celebrate the unique majesty of Oregon's Crater Lake with six performances at the national park of a world premiere by New York-based composer Michael Gordon, commissioned by Britt Music & Arts Festival and inspired by Crater Lake. Abrams will lead approximately 40 Britt Orchestra musicians in the performances, with the dramatic panorama of the lake as the setting. Joining the Britt Orchestra musicians are 15 members of Steiger Butte Drum, a drum troupe composed of members of the local Klamath Tribes; 30 brass and percussion musicians from Southern Oregon University; and a 50-member chorus. The performances are free, and are being presented as part of the centennial celebration of the U.S. National Park Service.
