- February 04, 2017 The Houston Symphony announced Monday that concert tickets for Yo-Yo Ma are now on sale to the general public. Globally famous, the superstar cellist will join the orchestra and Music Director Andres Orozco-Estrada at 7:30 p.m. Today, Feb. 4, 2017 at Jones Hall. Ma will perform Dvorak's powerful Cello Concerto, a masterpiece written during the time the composer spent in America. Gershwin's jazz-influenced American in Paris will also be on the program.

Thierry Fischer to Complete Brahms' Cycle with Utah Symphony in Two February Weekends by BWW News Desk
- February 03, 2017 On February 3 and 4 at 7:30 PM, Maestro Fischer will conduct Brahms' Symphony No. 2 and Brahms' "Academic Festival Overture", in a concert that features guest artist Narek Hakhnazaryan debuting in Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 1. Maestro Fischer will return to the stage two weeks later to lead Brahms' Symphony No. 4 on February 24 and 25, concluding Brahms' symphony cycle in the Utah Symphony 2016-17 season. The February 24/25 concert will also include the U.S. premiere of Michael Jarrell's composition "Aquateinte" performed by guest oboist Francois Leleux, for whom the piece was written. Pianist Kirill Gerstein Performs 1879 Version of Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto With the New York Philharmonic, 2/2-4 & 7 by BWW News Desk
- February 03, 2017 Pianist Kirill Gerstein continues to champion Tchaikovsky's own final version of the First Piano Concerto in four performances with the New York Philharmonic, conducted by Semyon Bychkov, on Thursday, February 2 at 7:30 PM; Today, February 3 at 11:00 AM; Saturday, February 4 at 8:00 PM; and Tuesday, February 7 at 7:30 PM. The performances will mark the first time this 1879 version will be heard in New York since Tchaikovsky himself conducted it for the 1891 opening of Carnegie Hall. The concerts also feature Tchaikovsky's Manfred Symphony and are part of Beloved Friend - Tchaikovsky and His World: A Philharmonic Festival (January 24-February 11), the New York Philharmonic and Mr. Bychkov's three-week festival of orchestral, chamber, and vocal programs that explore music by Tchaikovsky and composers who influenced or were influenced by him.

- February 01, 2017 Beginning February 18, the Orchestre National de Lyon, “probably the most refined ensemble of the world” (The Guardian), tours the United States for the first time since 2003, playing concerts with music director Leonard Slatkin on a six-city tour. The Orchestra performs in renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and at the University of Georgia, Wake Forest University, and others. Special guest artists at Carnegie Hall include two of classical music's most treasured American voices, soprano Renée Fleming and baritone Thomas Hampson. The New York program will feature debut performances of Guillaume Connesson's Celephaïs and a new Ravel arrangement of Rimsky-Korsakov's Antar with text by Amin Maalouf.

- January 31, 2017 To launch his 2016-17 season, Kent Tritle made his conducting debut in Asia with a program of Beethoven and Bellini at South Korea's Great Mountains Music Festival and School in August, and in November led the New York premiere at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine of the recently deceased Einojuhani Rautavaara's Vigilia. Opera News, praising Tritle's “profoundly musical direction,” said, “Truly, this was a choral concert for the ages. … For those of us who love choral music, and for those of us who particularly love choral music connected to the Eastern Orthodox tradition, this concert was possibly the finest event of the 2016-17 season.”
