The York Symphony Orchestra will present The Romantics on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center in York. It is the third concert of the 2016-2017 Classical Series, A Musical Journey Through Time.

The performance will feature Tchaikovsky's iconic Symphony No. 4 and Brahms' Double Concerto for Violin and Cello with performances by acclaimed music director, Lawrence Golan, on violin and Steven Honigberg, from the National Symphony Orchestra, on cello. Brahms' Double Concerto will be conducted by Stephen Czarkowski.

"The Romantics celebrates the late 19th Century where emotion and passion reigned supreme," said Lawrence Golan, music director and conductor of the York Symphony Orchestra. "The music fits the time period perfectly, serving up passionate, extroverted melodies and twists in orchestration and harmonies. I am looking forward to performing alongside the Orchestra with standout cellist Steven Honigberg."

Guest cellist Steven Honigberg is a graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, studying under Leonard Rose and Channing Robbins. He is currently a member of the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington D.C. He has given recitals across the United States. Honigberg was director of the Chamber Music series at the U.S. Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. for eight years. He is a member of the Smithsonian Chamber Society, PostClassical Ensemble and the Phillips Camerata.
