Eagle Studios Presents Their Latest Reproduction and It's Just in Time for Christmas
by BWW News Desk - November 09, 2014
It all started in early 2014 when Sally Lawton of The Cottage approached Charles Mohr of Eagle Studios with an idea for a new project. During the meeting Charles was handed an original copy of the 1896 - The Night Before Christmas or a Visit from St. Nicholas, published by the McLoughlin Brothers of New York. Original copies of this book are very rare and command a high price in the antique book collectors market. A deal was struck and the project began. The most important part of this book restoration project was maintaining the original look and feel, but remove all the imperfections that had caused deterioration over the past 100 years. The book was literally falling apart in Charles's hands. Using high resolution digital technology, 300 DPI scans were made and the editing process began. 'I did not realize how bad the pages were until I opened the first digital file,' said Charles. Using color and pattern elements from each of the pages, every detail was restored with perfection. Recently Charles stated 'For me, The Night Before Christmas or a Visit from St. Nicholas was a labor of love. Bringing back to life a piece of history that has affected so many lives throughout the years and knowing this work will continue Christmas traditions is why I took on the project. The preservation of antiquities is so important to maintain our culture and traditions.' 2000 copies are now available for immediate delivery. The book is beautifully printed on 100# silk cover stock and 100# silk text for the pages in its original format of 12' x 10' and includes a special dedication page. Charles Mohr is a full time website and graphic designer. He works out of his home studio in Millsboro, Delaware. He is a multi-talented individual and has often been called a 'Modern Day Renaissance Man.' His company offers website and graphic design as well as commercial printing and marketing services. Brattle Publishing Group Authors Sam Valentino and Gary Karton Nominated for 2014 Cybils Awards
by BWW News Desk - November 09, 2014
Set to end 2014 on another high note, BPG's titles 'The Last Akaway' and 'The Silver Rings,' are among a selected group of books nominated for the Children's and Young Adult Bloggers' Literary Awards (Cybils Awards). According to the organization's website, 'The Cybils Awards aims to recognize the children's and young adult authors and illustrators whose books combine the highest literary merit and popular appeal.' To support this mission, the Cybils Awards' first round of nominations are made by the public and unaffiliated with publishers or publicists. Both BPG titles were nominated in that first round. In October, author and illustrator Sam Valentino was awarded a prestigious Moonbeam Children's Book Gold Award for 'The Silver Rings.' It was the first book he authored. Valentino also illustrated 'The Last Akaway,' which won a 2014 eLit Award in May and a 2013 Moonbeam Children's Book Bronze Award. Geared toward a middle grades audience, 'The Last Akaway' is the first book in Gary Karton's Brody Boondoggle trilogy. Valentino's inspiration comes from the stories he creates and reads to his three children. According to the Boston-area author, 'As a dad who loves to tell his family stories, I wanted to make The Silver Rings something kids and their parents could enjoy together. The Cybils Awards are very important to me because it was the public - other parents and families - who nominated my work.' BPG Founder and CEO Richard Lena also noted the significance of the public's nominations. 'Our team is focused on creating books that encourage children to want to read,' says Lena adding, 'for educators, parents, and others tasked with engaging our next generation in literature, to recognize this in our children's books is a distinct honor.' A team of judges will review all nominations. Finalists for the Cybils Awards will be announced on January 1, 2015. A second panel of judges will select winners, who will be announced on February 14, 2015. Stay up-to-date by following Brattle Publishing Company on Twitter, Facebook, and Google Plus.

Former Celebrity Journalist Randy Jernigan to Tell All in New Book, SCOOP!
by BWW News Desk - November 09, 2014
Creative Partners Books has announced that Losing to Win author Randy Jernigan will pen a new book about his 22 years as a freelance celebrity journalist and features writer titled 'Scoop.' With his 'Stars That Make A Difference' book in its final stages of edit, Jernigan has promised his book company to turn in a 'tell all' about his years as a contributing writer and reporter for some of America's most notorious gossip fueled publications. 'I've kept diaries for as long as I can remember and there's a ton of material that was never used in the stories I worked on,' explained Jernigan. 'Whether it was because the editors decided not to use it or I decided that the material was just too much information about the celebrity,' said Jernigan. Jernigan made a name for himself by writing features on such stars as Britney Spears, Tom Cruise, and Marie Osmond, just to name a few. At one point in his career Jernigan held the distinction of having the most page one's (a magazine's cover story) of any freelancer in the business, as well as being the highest paid freelancer several years in a row. Jernigan was also a regular contributor to such television news programs as 60 Minutes, 20/20, Hard Copy, Good Morning America and American Journal. But as for Jernigan's book, don't be fooled by the term 'tell-all.' Jernigan says that most of the features he published in magazines such as Globe, Star, or Britain's Daily Mail were considered tame by most standards. In fact, many celebrities sought Jernigan out when they wanted to release a story and trusted him to be fair and sensitive. 'I've always had a reputation for very high journalistic standards when it came to my work,'explained Jernigan. 'I always insisted on at least three sources for a story and accuracy was very important to me. I was pretty lucky when it came to the editors I worked with. They knew my personal standards and never asked me to do something I wasn't comfortable with,' said Jernigan. It's believed that Jernigan will be spilling the beans about some of the inner workings of the magazine industry and not just about the stars themselves. According to FishbowlNY, the Utah-based writer has a full plate of writing projects lined up already for the rest of this year and the next. His next book to be released is an inspirational collection of biographical sketches on Daniel Radcliffe, Ellen Degeneres, Marie Osmond, and Taylor Swift. Another cookbook is in the works as well as a screenplay on Mikhail Bulgakov's book 'Master and Margarita' for a film studio. 'Scoop' is expected to hit stores Summer of 2015 and will be published by Creative Partners Books.

Fitness Trainer and Former NFL Player Releases New Book Introducing Meditation to Youth
by BWW News Desk - November 09, 2014
'If every 8 year old in the world is taught meditation, we will eliminate violence from the world within one generation.' ~ Dalai Lama Inspirational fitness coach and former NFL running back, Prince Daniels, Jr. has released his first children's book, 'Danny Yukon & the Secrets of the Amazing Lamp' on Amazon.com (published by The Sager Group). The first story in a collection of books called the I'magíne Series created by Daniels, is co-written by award-winning author and Broadway playwright Pamela Hill-Nettleton and illustrated by Liza Biggers. The well-written and beautifully illustrated series aims to inspire youth and introduce them to meditation and its benefits, including enhanced focus, coping with loss, and overcoming fears. Daniels used the ancient practice to conquer obstacles in his own life, and aspired to introduce a new way for young people to approach and overcome adversity in their lives. 'I wrote this book because I wanted to teach children about meditating,' says Daniels. 'Children learn by mimicking what they see. Therefore, I created characters that they can relate to, and imitate. When the character succeeds, so does the child reading the book.' Danny Yukon and the Secrets of the Amazing Lamp is the story of a young boy who overcomes the loss of his father -a U.S. soldier serving in Afghanistan. As a result of the tragedy, he becomes mute. At night his dreams are haunted by a ferocious tiger. It is not until his uncle gives Danny an amazing lamp-and teaches him how to meditate- that he learns the key to his powers lie within. 'One of my main goals in life was to become an NFL player and I accomplished that,' says Daniels. 'When I was released from the Baltimore Ravens in 2009 and no longer had football, I had to come up with a new plan for my life, and meditation helped me to do that,' he continues. 'I hope that my story will help others; proving that any goal is achievable if you focus and work hard.' Daniels was raised in a home that was focused on education first; then athletics. After high school, he was accepted to Georgia Tech and earned a degree in Business Management. In his second year as a student at Tech, he walked on the football team, and later earned a scholarship. While playing for the Yellow Jackets, he was a two-time all-conference tailback, the fourth-leading rusher in Georgia Tech football history, with 3,300 yards. A two-time Academic All-ACC selection and elected team captain, Daniels was selected for the 2006 Hula Bowl, the college all-star classic. During Daniels's college career he had a noticeable game in 2003-04 Humanitarian Bowl where he ran for an NCAA bowl game record 311 yards on 31 attempts and 4 touchdowns. Daniels was drafted by the NFL's Baltimore Ravens in 2006 and released in 2009. His story is one of a young man who was determined to succeed and commited to being the best that he could be. Through hard work and persistence, he opened doors for himself, rose to greatness, lost it, reinvented himself, and now he wants to share his story with young people and help them to minimize conflicts that may confront them. The I'magíne Series draws its name from the distillation of the word 'imagine' down to its parts, pronounced 'I'm a genie.' Daniels believes that the ability or inability to do anything comes from within, and like a genie - we all can create our own reality.
