Randy Jernigan Releases New Memoir by BWW News Desk
- November 24, 2014 Creative Partners Books announced this week that author Randy Jernigan will write and publish a memoir about his twenty two years as a freelance tabloid journalist for such weeklies as Globe and Star, but the busy writer says the book won't be about spilling a lot of celebrity secrets, but coming to terms with his own past and, in some cases, making amends and changing career paths.
Scoop. An intimate memoir of sorts, was taken from Randy's personal diaries and interviews of his more than twenty years in the celebrity magazine industry.
'It's important for a writer, as well as other creative people that make a living with their craft, to shake things up a bitand sometimes that means breaking out of the mold we've cast for ourselves. I feel that I've gone as far as I can go as a 'celebrity reporter,' and I need to expand and move into other genres of writing. So when my agent came to me with the idea of moving toward screenplay writing I jumped at it. I've written two screenplays for a cable network and have always wanted to develop my talents in that genre, so I was thrilled when this film company came along and bought up Willing to Love!'
According to a recently published report from writer Terry Griffin and BriefingWire, the story, published in a national woman's magazine in 2007, Willing to Love, 'explores the fictional character of Nicholas Carr, who ran away from home at 18 years old after confessing to his parents that he was gay, and the emotional burden placed on the young man who returns home after 10 years to face his youthful mistakes, and to make amends with his dying father,' said the article.
'There's a lot of me in this story and that's the way a lot of writers do it-you borrow from what you know when writing fiction. Not that I'm confessing anything here but I think that my close friends will recognize a lot of me in the character of Nick. At least I hope they do. That means I've done my job well.'
Screenplay aside, that doesn't mean that Randy will never write celebrity material again. In fact his new book series, Stars That Make A Difference, will become available soon from his publishing house and each book in the series will include four biographical sketches of celebrities he admires.
'This work is a lot different than what I would have written for a magazine. Each sketch is a serious look and the star, their career, a small bit about their personal life, and a lot about how they've given back to their respective communities. It's a very positive piece and I'm very proud of this book series,' said Randy.
So when several gossip pages began slamming his book project and calling his credibility into question, that's when Randy knew that it was time to take some action. After consulting with his legal team Randy decided to file legal complaints against two of the online tabloids.
'That was a terribly hard time for me,' said the author. 'These gossip pages were attributing words to me that I never said, and sensationalizing what I did say to the point that what I said was unrecognizable. Making it look as though I was saying mean spirited things about my own book or about the star I was writing about. When I started this project it was with the best of intentions so all this negative attention about my book project was stressing me out. I read some really horrible things that was said about me by a celebrity fan that was so off base-it all just made me feel horrible,' Randy explained.
It was recently reported in an online news page that Randy had suffered a stress related stroke (TA) during this time.
It was a face-time message from a very insightful friend whom Randy had been interviewing for his book series that helped put his mind at ease and put the whole situation into proper perspective.
'I had decided to just dump all my hard work into the garbage when my friend called me. 'Just chill out and believe in yourself and your own personal integrity, don't let these idiots get to you,' my friend said to me.'
Randy's rough patch is over now and he'll be moving forward with the screenplay and releasing 'Scoop the Summer' of 2015.
Norm Yip Releases Third Photography Book THE ASIAN MALE – 3.AM by BWW News Desk
- November 24, 2014 Following a seven year hiatus since his last publication, artist Norm Yip - known for his photographs of nude Asian men - continues his passion for photographing the human form in The Asian Male - 3.AM. The third book - more progressive and mature than his previous works - pushes the boundaries of the Asian male to a new level of appreciation and perhaps even controversy.
A majority of the images presented in the book are in black and white and retains his signature touch of integrity and sophistication. A proponent of Classicism, he is not swayed into the typical strategies of sensationalism and cleverness of image manipulation typical to most photography today; simplicity and honesty is his credo.
'It was my privilege to photograph several dancers for 3.AM. Their bodies lent themselves to creating images that were not previously encountered in my first books The Asian Male - 1.AM and The Asian Male - 2.AM,' said Yip. 'It's a difference you can see in photographs featuring aerial artist Monika Ell, a darkly tanned Columbian-Albanian from the USA, and Rick Hok-Leung Cheung, a freelance dancer in Hong Kong. Both provided me with a great amount of freedom in posing nude in front of the camera.'
3.AM also features models styled by fashion stylist Patryk Chaou, introducing fashion elements into Norm's repertoire of work in a subtle yet distinctive way. Yip elaborates, 'Sometimes, you know there is something special going on in a photography session, where things seem to flow effortlessly, and the creative juices flow from one shoot to the next. It was like that when working with Patryk and the models.'
For fans of more risque material, Norm photographed several young men in bondage. 'I've never included images like these before as it is an area that is still widely misunderstood. For the participants, it is both erotic, spiritual and a unique art form and I hope that I've done it justice in my photos,' added Yip. 'The rigger or roper was trained by a master in Japan, and known in the underground scene. It is a rare opportunity that I will never take for granted to have seen and photographed the art of bondage in action.'
The Asian Male Series
The Asian Male series is a collection of photography books by Norm Yip that document the growth and progression of the Asian male nude as a primary subject for photographic investigation. It is a 9 x 12' hard-cover edition containing 112 pages, with 76 images. ISBN: 978-988-98259-6-6. http://theasianmale.com

Book One in a New YA Dystopian/Apocalyptic Thriller Series Released LAST LIGHT FALLING by BWW News Desk
- November 23, 2014 'If your fate has already been chosen for you, would you change it?'
Fifteen-year-old Arena Power blindly accepts her destiny in a world filled with tragedy, chaos, and a lingering wickedness that will tempt every man's soul until the last days on Earth. Set in the United States in the year 2053, America, like most of the world, has undergone catastrophic earthquakes, famine, and an economic collapse, which has rendered the nation hopeless. It has turned to other nations, like Russia and China, to help restore what was once a world power. Unfortunately, the new America has grossly caused civil unrest that will eventually be the precursor to a much bigger war of biblical proportions.
Orphaned at the age of nine, Arena and her twin brother, Gabe, have learned to rely on each other through the toughest times. Not only do they share the same birthday and the tragic loss of their parents, they both have a birthmark on the back of their necks in the shape of a crucifix. This is only but a small sign of the destiny that will follow. On their fifteenth birthday, they receive a mystery letter and key from their estranged Uncle Finnegan. This key will unlock their fate, and it will be up to a priest, who has vowed to protect them since birth, to unfold the layers of their destiny-to undo the evil that has spoiled the world, and to help unleash God's wrath upon those who have turned from Him in the last days of history.
Last Light Falling weaves righteousness with evil, treachery with truth, and shows just how far the will of man can survive on faith alone. Arena and Gabriel's fate will determine that course of history for which has already been written. They were not born to save the world; they were chosen to prepare it for the final days.
Last Light Falling is available in both print and ebook format.
