Unexpected situations can transform many lives at once; oftentimes, bringing together individuals who wouldn't have met otherwise. Author David Clapham explores this concept, along with the ideas of coincidence and fate, in his new book, "Odd Socks." An adult non-fiction piece, Odd Socks delves into the world of chance events and unlikely connections.

Set in northern England, the novel kicks off in the 1970s at the onset of Andrew Carter's junior lectureship. As he tries to navigate his budding career, Carter suddenly comes face-to-face with an acquaintance from his past. The first of many random encounters, the meeting sparks a trail of comical liaisons that give Carter a new perspective on life.

"Many people are familiar with the odd socks problem," Clapham said. "You put matching pairs of socks into the washing machine, but somehow you end up with missing or mismatched socks. I wrote Odd Socks based on this principle and my goal is to show readers that unanticipated events can lead to lasting friendships. You should always be open to new possibilities because you never know who will cross your path or what they can teach you."

The first of two books penned by Clapham, Odd Socks demonstrates how unintended happenstances can unite people with diverse upbringings. For more information about the book or the author, please visit http://www.davidhclapham.com.
