Big Nerd Ranch Releases 'Android Programming: The Big Nerd Ranch Guide'

Big Nerd Ranch has released its highly anticipated Android Programming: The Big Nerd Ranch Guide. It is now available in both print and electronic formats and at all major bookstores, including Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

The guide, used during Big Nerd Ranch's popular Android Bootcamp, is an introduction to Android for programmers with Java experience. It features hands-on examples and clear explanations of concepts and techniques.

"Big Nerd Ranch provided the training we needed to get hundreds of engineers building skillfully on Android," said Mike Shaver, Director of Mobile Engineering for Facebook. "This book is a great distillation of that training and will be a huge help to anyone looking to ramp up as well."

Android Programming: The Big Nerd Ranch Guide serves as a comprehensive beginner's guide, teaching the reader to write, understand and run Android code from start to finish. It provides the reader with the tools needed to effectively work with Eclipse and the Android Development Tools (ADT) plugin to run and test programs.

Written by Bill Phillips and Brian Hardy, software developers and instructors at Big Nerd Ranch, it is the fifth programming guide released as part of the Big Nerd Ranch Guides series. Other topics include Cocoa programming for Mac OS X, advanced Mac OS X programming, iOS programming and Objective-C programming. Learn more about Big Nerd Ranch Guides online at
