BAD THEATER FEST Announces Festival Highlights

Bad Theater Fest, created as a supportive, fun and open environment for artists to present anything weird, different or unique has announced their lineup of dramatic short plays, comedy show, dance, musical theater and storytelling performances. As part of their 5th year celebration Bad Theater Fest moves to a Brooklyn venue: St. Paul's Upstairs Theater, 334 S. 5th St. (between Rodney and Keap St.), Brooklyn, NY, 11211. The festival takes place Tuesday through Saturday, November 1 - 5, 2016 with multiple performances each evening. Tickets are $15 and are available at badtheaterfest.com.

House of Yes, described by USA Today as 'New York's coolest new nightclub,' welcomes back renowned New York art-party crew, Treetops for the first annual Mad Science Fair at House of Yes alongside the founding father of acid house, DJ Pierre, a special surprise guest, and many more today, October 14. Brainy activities and mind blowing interactions on the night will include a 'Guess Who's Ovulating' Strip Dance, massive lighting powered only by potatoes, an all powerful Mutant Combination machine, as well as the latest in 3D video projection mapping. There will be a Mind Prize Ceremony in which prizes will be awarded to the weirdest and wackiest science project submissions.

GOLDEN BOY at Gleason's Gym Fights Parkinson's

StoPD and Shetler Studios present Golden Boy, written by Clifford Odets and directed by Aaron Latham.  Staged at Gleason's Gym, the world famous boxing mecca that contributed to inspiring Odets back in 1937, this full scale production will be the first time Golden Boy will be presented in a site-specific setting with original equipment and ring from 1940s-50s.  This production is a fundrasing event for two non-profit organizations: The Michael J. Fox Foundation and stoPD (Support and Training to Overcome Parkinson's Disease). This revival of Odets' masterpiece will be directed by Aaron Latham, author of the films Urban Cowboy, The Program and the Broadway musical Urban Cowboy.  Mr. Latham has been living with Parkinson's disease for several years.  At age 72, this production is his theatrical directorial debut. This unique production will also feature professional actors who are living with Parkinson's in some of the main roles. A tribute to the Parkinson's community and a testament to its strength and potential.

Brooklyn Community Services (BCS) ONE BK Unite raised over $47,000 for BCS programs and clients at the Prospect Park walk-a-thon on Sunday, September 25. The walk included participants like Brooklyn's Hollywood couple Dane DeHaan(“The Amazing Spider-Man 2”) and Anna Wood (USA's “Falling Water”), the ONE BK Unite Ambassadors, and writer-image activist Michaela Angela Davis, a member of the BCS Board of Directors.

The Brooklyn Museum is pleased to announce that the exhibition Philippe Parreno: My Room Is Another Fish Bowl has been added to the fall 2016 schedule. From October 5 to November 20, 2016, approximately 150 colorful fish-shaped Mylar balloons will float at various heights and move gently through the glass-enclosed Martha A. and Robert S. Rubin Pavilion in response to human interaction and climatic changes. This elegant and hypnotic installation invites visitors of all ages to contemplate the passage of time and shifting patterns of light and atmospheric conditions as the balloons swim through the air. Visible from the street, the fish will appear as if in a large, architectural fish bowl.
