Brooklyn Museum Announces Public Program Schedule For January

The Brooklyn Museum will present a variety of programs for adults, teens, and kids in January. Public programs include talks, performances, and hands-on workshops for children and adults that amplify the Museum's exhibitions and Permanent Collection, serve its diverse public, and support learning through the visual arts.

Highlights include artist talks on Beverly Buchanan with Kevin Beasleyand Nona Faustine; an Art History Happy Hour with trivia inspired by the exhibition Iggy Pop Life Class by Jeremy Deller; music by the St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble; and a Family Day Benefit.

Egyptian Galleries, 3rd Floor

Tickets are $25 and include Museum admission.

Renowned performance group Rimini Protokoll presents the U.S. premiere of Top Secret International (State 1), an algorithmic-based interactive theater experience presented by The Public Theater's Under the Radar Festival in association with the Goethe-Institute and the Brooklyn Museum. In this interactive theater experience, audience members turn into inconspicuous agents of espionage, uncovering international intelligence networks in our Egyptian galleries. Visitors of all ages are invited to take inspiration from our galleries and drop by Our Studios to experiment with materials and learn artistic techniques. There's a new project each month.

Salsa Party

Martha A. and Robert S. Rubin Pavilion, 1st Floor

Free as part of Thursday Nights.

Join a salsa lesson led by professional dancers, followed by live music and dance performances by some of Brooklyn's best Latin dance teams. Hosted by Brooklyn's Balmir Latin Dance Studio.

Artist's Eye: Nona Faustine on Beverly Buchanan

This series of intimate, in-gallery talks by contemporary artists illuminates special exhibitions with fresh and alternative perspectives. Artist Nona Faustine responds to Beverly Buchanan's work in the exhibition Beverly Buchanan--- Ruins and Rituals.

St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble: Baroque Series

Family Day Benefit

Tickets and packages are $125 for Friend Ticket; $500 for Family Package; $1,000 for Leader Package; and $2,500 for Sponsor Package.

Join an evening of art-centered family activities, including art scavenger hunts, art-making stations, a dance party, and a custom photo booth. Snacks and beverages--- for kids and adults--- will be available throughout the evening. Proceeds help the Museum continue making world-class collections and exhibitions, and low-cost education and public programs, accessible to the entire community.
