A black envelope, a visit from a summer fling, and a mysterious hammering in the old field set off accusations and recriminations at the family gathering for Mary Gillen's 25th birthday. Inspired by director Andrea Humez’ search for scripts with multiple roles for women, That Night in the Field was chosen as the first script for FirstWorks, Theatre@First’s new workshop program for local playwrights. The process culminates with a staged reading of the workshopped script, followed by a conversation with the playwright and an opportunity to help develop this engaging new work.
